Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm a 40k player, just wondering if there are any rules (however official/unofficial) that tie both the battlefleet games with the standard 40k games? It would be sweet to have a smultaneous battle going on on the ground as well as in space with each having a small effect on the other.
eg- The fleet gaining the advantage in space can call in orbital strikes on land, and ground forces can take over objectives to fire volleys into space.
I may be completely ignorant here, so apologies in advance for not understanding BfG.
I hear alot of 40k players talk about this, but the one major flaw in this idea is that the games would take a very long time.
Objectives could have multiple strength 5 - 15 weapons on them to fire into space, or maybe a strength 5 lance battery. It would be awesome making giant objective markers for this game type. If I were to do this game type I would keep the BFG game point value low.
There are no official or semi official rules for it, you would have to make house rules. I have also talked about the idea with my gaming group, and yes it would take a long time but it would be so awesome. We figured cruiser and upwards orbiting the planet could unleash orbital bombardments, but the ship bombarding the 40k game couldn't do anything in space that turn. I hadn't thought of objectives on the ground firing upwards, that would be sweet too. Might have to see if I can get it in motion again. Realistically I can't see lances or weapon batteries being effective from the ground to space, range is way to far and they have to get through the atmosphere, torpedo batteries could though.
And yes you would want the BFG game to be fairly small, it would be pretty complicated to work out and set up, but would work well with an apocalypse game.
