Adeptus Mechanicus Battleship
Imperial Vengeance Battleship
Imperial Emperor Battleship
Imperial Apocalypse Battleship
i'm starting an Imperial battlefleet.
i just started BFG so i have to begin at 0,
but now i had to decide for a capital ship to buy and i can't decide wich one of sub-fleets i schould take.
so now you can choose for me^^
please explain why you took one, if you find the time.
EDIT: i have mistaken me with the Vengeance Class Battleship.
i have confused it with the Retribution Class Battleship.
so...: i have typed Vengeance Class Battleship but i meant Retribution Class Battleship.

Well, I am not a big fan of battleships at the best of times, and I certainly wouldnt get one until I knew what sort of playstyle I liked, or even if you like the game.
But probably not a mechanicus one, if you are just starting then keep it simple.
The name refers to facial hair, not playing style.Originally Posted by A news vendor's stand, London, June 1940
There are a number of Imperial fleets, none of which feature on your poll. Your poll is merely a number of classes of battleship. Incidentally, if you do plan on starting a fleet, a battleship is towards the end of the list of purchases.
The possible Imperial fleets are:
Personally I would (and, indeed, did) go for the Imperial Navy (IN). They are simple to play, can be flexible tactically and have the largest collection of puchasable models. Your first place to start would be one or more boxes of Imperial Cruisers, perhaps followed by some escorts. Well actually your first place to start would be the rulebook, but I assumed that went without saying.
Battleships are huge, yes, but they also cost a huge number of points (and a huge amount of cash). They are best left for fleets at least 2000 points in size.
not because i disagree with you but i find the battleship models the most awesome of all Battlefleet gothic and i deffintly want at least one in each battle to be my centerpiece of the fleet.
but i can't decide between one of the 4 classes listed in my poll.
that's why i oppened it, so someone with some more experience in BFG could tell me the pro's and contra's of each one of them.
maybe i schould've made a better poll-name.

Oh I see, so you have decided on Imperial Navy, and now you want to choose your battleship. I got the wrong end of the stick before.
Well your choices are, mostly, from the following: Emperor, Retribution, Oberon and Apocalypse classes of battleship or the Vengeance grand cruiser (this isslighty smaller than the rest, almost a battlecruiser rather than a battleship).
It's late and I can't be bothered to go through them all now (maybe tomorrow) but personally I would go for either Emperor or Oberon, because of the launch bays.
for my old imperial fleet i had both a retribution and an emperor, i started with an emperor becuse of the waves of attack craft it can put out, it can cripple enemy ships from a distance whilst at the same time protecting the rest of the fleet from enemy attack craft.
in contrast, at close range the retribution is 1 of the best broadside batleships in the game, and has the potential to seriously damage oposing ships in 1 round of firing. the weapons bateries are even good against eldar players which is a bonus.
the apocalypse class can tear oposing cruisers apart with its lances but against eldar players it can barely make a dent, and against numerous escorts it can get overwhelmed because it just cant put out that many shots.
the macanicus battleships give alot of bonuses to whichever battleship u add the upgrade 2, but u should remember, that they are an upgrade, given to 1 of the 4 imperial battleships :retribution, oberon, apocalypse or emperor.
the oberon is a good all rounder if you cant decide what u want to go for, it has lances, weapon bateries and launch bays, although it cant excell at any of the roles that 1 of the above can, it can be a solid bullwark to hold the line when used with other cruisers.
hope that helps you choose
