So, I'm in a necro campagin, (as you do) using the older rules (as you don't)
My gang started at 7 people, but has now fallen to 6, so could use some advice for what to get,
as i really don't want to lose my Epic gangers, been 2 games so far, but 1 of them is almost always 2s to hit with str 4 long range weapon, anyway, here's roster-ish
Leader(formaly ganger): LD: 7, BS:4 with Infared scoped long rifle (which is +1 to hit at long range with used rules)
-Ganger A: BS: 4, lasgun
-Ganger B: BS: 4, lasgun
-Ganger C: lasgun + Infiltatrion
-Juve: BS3, Laspistol, 'sword'
-Heavy: Heavy plasma gun
Stash: 170 creds
Overall rating: 993
so using the 170, i need to buy either juves, gangers, (which are like normal ones but cost 5pts more for ash wastes), and the equip for them,
other gangs in campagin is a redeptionest, a golaith, and a delaque, though the goliath are slightly more shooty than normal.
So! any advice?
Get as many juves as possible, equip them with nothing but knives. You could get six with your current stash..
It might seem harsh, but it will give you a high threshhold for bottling out, and used correctly will provide a meatshield which will be very difficult for your opponents to get through.
Redemptionists can probably outnumber you using this method, but the other gangs will have real problems unless they have a lot of flamers or sustained fire weapons (though if your enemy's heavies are wasting shots on Juves they're still doing their job)
Being a lower gang rating gives your dudes more XP per match - so make the most of it. If you've 8 dudes in your gang, voluntarily bottle as soon as 2 go down. Minimal injuries, and your juvies will become gangers in next to no time. And that means more income, which buys juves.

currently it looks like juves are the way to, remebering of course the AWN juves cost 30,
I think I'll grab 3 juves with nothing, and use them as 'nearest targets'
stick one with leader(current one)
one with heavy
and one with each of the 2 gangers that aren't ifiltrating,
so that lets me set up 2 key firing lines (people fear the long rifle + heavy)
backed up by 2 lasgun support, and the 3rd infiltrator allowing trianaltion, and
have a sheild to stop opposing snipers, it'll also keep gang rating lower than the
other players (993 -> 1083) so should still get 1 or 2 giant kill bonus or such

I'm nomads. I get one territory, and my income is
[(gang members-leader)D6]-[(gang members)*2)
which can increase based on my territory rolls
more gangers = more money, but of course, I won't fight to the death,
I'll stay untill required, then escape~
if leader or heavy drops, get out as fast as posible & hope for the 1-3 roll :3
It's not fun playing to lose.. Playing against the odds and losing is to be expected, but just playing with the purpose of getting two people down and bottling is not really fun. No gang's survival is worth having a boring time, especially when you can just restart.
The difference between having two or three juves have to go down before you can bottle is also minimal. Juves cost as much as a lasgun.. They are highly replacable, and especially since they protect more valuable gangers who do increase your income, they'll pay for themselves even if they're just being shot.
That's my opinion anyway..
It's been 2 weeks, and I've had two games, and decided on the '3 bait juve' stratagy
And I just feel like talking about it
However, due to some extream luck... I won both, the first vs a gang with 510 more rating than me
(destroy the water still: he has 2 gangers, i have a plasma cannon & first turn = 17xp base + d6)
and the 2nd vs a gang with 160 more
(due to stratagy, and everyone jumping out of sight of his heavy on first turn)
so my gang went way~ up & I got lots of new toys:
-Ash wastes: Ash Assailants
Long rifle + infared sight/ Crackshot + gun-fighter
Heavy Plasma gun / weaponsmith
lasgun + telescopic sight / marksman + fast shot
Lasgun / marskman
-WS:4 W:2 Ld:8 (had a leadership battle, but he accepted my current leader)
Lasgun / Infiltration + hates the redemption
Nomad: Thufir Hawat
Lasgun /Marksman + escape artist
/ No right eye
Laspistol / infiltration
Stash: 176 creds + an atuo-repairer
Overall rating: 1412
So yeah, The bait juves worked well, though the one who lost an eye did so due to... standing in front of my leaders rifle... but he got the BS back from his advancment...
But yeah, for the most part I've been obscenly lucky with advancement rolls, as well as
getting some good trades from the gun sights, as well as managing to ransack a gambling
den for 240 straight creds with which to buy them (and the auto-repair :D ) so its been a
good few games, had a few funny things, some awsome things, and still have a pretty low
gang rating to keep getting the bonus xp with, so yeah, it has been good.
