I've justed started BFG and I'm going to go for necrons as they are my 40k race. Here is the first list i've come up with:
Jackals have a lot of firepower for their points if slightly fragile and tomb ships look plain nasty. I'm also taking the scythes for lots of star pulses to deal with escorts and ordnance.
Not really too sure on tactics so any advice would be really welcome.
Ye Old Necrons (R.I.P.) (7000pts) W52 D5 L9
New Crons!!! (5000pts) W1 D1 L1
Blood Angels (2500pts) W4 D0 L1
Hmmm i just did some calculating and you are 75 points short (of 2000 which i guess is why the number is in the name) so that is another jackal. That would give you the maximum of 12 and 25 points to don nothing much with.
A way i would recommend i don't play necrons and have never played them so others are welcome to be annoyed. Have the same as your original fleet but 9 jackals and 1 shorud. Yes that is two less firepower a bit slower 3 less hit and runs etc.... But and this is a big but +1 to every one of your vessels leadership (no matter where they are) if an enemy vessel is on special orders and since your playing necrons at least one ship will be reloading bracing or locking on every turn making your leadership similar to that of the eldar ie not to shabby. And the shroud is not to bad at removing escorts (guessing from the amount lightning arcs). But don't let it get shot to much since you will only have one (and they aren't that strong). So just put it near the rear and it should be able to take any of the ships which normally are sent to harrass the rear-light cruisers, escorts and dreaded attack craft.
If you did the above you could then reduce your jackals down to 7 and buy 3 dirges then you would have exactly 2000. (and every ship in the fleet). Keep the 3 dirges with your shroud for protection from early escort and ordanance runs the nine extra batteries would be a god send. Then in later turns all ahead full and you will easily be behind the enemy (rembering how necrons can turn on all ahead full-i believe the rules imply)....thats all i can think of.
Join the Imperial Guard the only employers who pay you to die!
I have only ever played necrons once in gothic and that was at a tourniment. Baised on that i can tell you that a scythe class crusser when brased can take the fire power of from one emorour, 3 domintators, and 3 dauntless (lances) this reustled in 3 points of damage. Form what ive seen the scythe is properly your best ship and no where near as risky as a tombship so take as meny as posible.
