I m having a fleet that has no ordance none zipp zero, but is this a loosing battle, like having an Imperial guard army with no heavy weapons
The Predator Lingers forth. Suddenly the sound of several wipping sounds can be heard far off into the distance, a second later the once mighty Predator ignited with flames. "Sir what was that" The srgt replied "Its those damn Broadsides"
Hear the wip, fear the Broadside.
if your good with a nova cannon i could see not having a need for torpedos. But I tend to like to have a few squadrons of fighters/bombers intercepting enemy torpedos and attack craft.
try it out and see if you like the way the fleet plays/ (Y)
If you really don't want to use ordnance, consider looking at Chaos, whose primary strengths are speed and their massed weapons batteries.
But if you really want to use Imperial ships, I'd say that yes, it could be done, you'll just have to become a bit of a hero and use brave, unorthodox tactics. Remember that Battlefleet Gothic doesn't rely on force composition as much as Warhammer 40,000 does. You won't be doomed if you don't pick the "right units". I'm a firm believer that with the right tactics, any fleet could be a winner, regardless of what ships are in it. Pick what style of fighting you like the most, then develop tactics to emphasize that style.
You might lose a few games, like we all do at first, but you'll probably get the hang of it. Besides, I like fielding something unusual, or that noone else is used to. The surprise factor alone is worth it. An imperial fleet with no ordnance will certainly be a special kind of rare....and if your opponents laugh at you when you reveal this fleet, get ready to laugh back when you blow them out of the stars with tactics they would never associate with an Imperial fleet.
Wait, you're building an ordnance-free Imperial fleet? You do realise that the only Imperials ships without ANY ordnance are the Dominator Cruiser, Vengance & Avenger Grand Cruisers, and the Apocalypse Battleship, plus a few escorts. And since most fleets have sizeable limitations on Battleships and Grand Cruisers, you'll just be fielding a lot of Dominators. It's possible, I guess, but you won't make any friends with that number of Nova Cannons or having much fun with such a boring list. Ordnance-heavy lists (like, well, most other Imperial fleets) will probably destroy you.
You do realise that both launched craft & torpedoes count as ordnance, don't you?
