Welcome to Librarium Online!
kind of an important question as it will probably be the determining factor between me being BFG or BFA, i know its silly to be based around 1 ship but i am wondering about how people felt about the difference of the two....
are the 4 extra attack craft squads better than the 2 LR lances, is the extra weapon battery power that much of a factor at over 30 cms...also please feel free to add any input as to which is better and why...thanks
what a long strange trip its been
it all depends on the rest of your fleet do u need more launch bays? or more firepower? the extra weapons battrey power is better but again it all depends on where/how this ship is going to be used. do u want it as a carrier? or as more of a war ship?
DOWN WITH THE FALSE EMPEROR!!!MAY HIS GALAXY BURN!!!
looking for best all around ship....not a game winner but some thing that will mesh well with rest of the parent list
what a long strange trip its been
The best all-around ship depends on the player as it is not objective. mEGALOMANIAC likes the Oberon best. I probably lean more towards the Emperor. But like Frost said, you should really look to fill any holes in your fleet.
If you have enough launch bays (I'd say that 4-6 for a 1500 point list is good), then you don't really need the Emperor. You could go Oberon, if you'd prefer, unless of course you really like launch bays and want more of them. If you find you have enough of a hard hitting WB and lance punch, than likewise the Oberon would just be giving you more of the same.
I stand by my statement that a balanced fleet is the most fun to field.
Oh, just remember that if you field the Oberon, you are limited to using the BF:A list, which means no Dauntless light cruisers. For me, that is enough to convince me to stick with the Emperor and the original BFG list.
Like Houston said, there is no definitive "Best" ship. It all depends on how you use it and your own personal play style.
Me, I prefer batteries, lances, and torpedoes to launched craft. In my regular fleet, I have 6 cruisers and a ton of escorts. Two of the cruisers are Mars class (total of 4 bays each), and thats the only launched craft I have in my entire fleet. When I swap in the Oberon proxy for variety, I swap out one of my Mars, so I remain at a fleet total of 8 bays. That's all that I feel are necessary to my play style - I never launch bombers unless the enemy has ZERO ordnance, I just use my bays for protective fighter screens. Other than that, I like to get in close and duke it out with broadsides and the like. If you play that way, then the Oberon is more suited to you.
On the other hand, if you're a fan of the carrier-style of play take the Emperor. It's a great ship, and the 8 bays it carries can really make a difference in a game (hell, an Emperor combined with one or two other carriers would probably swamp my fleet ^_^ ).But you can VERY easily get a couple of them into a BFA list using the reserve rules (every 3 cruisers from your list lets you buy 1 from another list). The hardest ships to get from reserve rules are Battleships, so that's probably your most important choice.Oh, just remember that if you field the Oberon, you are limited to using the BF:A list, which means no Dauntless light cruisers. For me, that is enough to convince me to stick with the Emperor and the original BFG list.
If you end up with the Emperor, you can still play either fleet list, as that's the generic battleship everyone can take.
