Hi, I am pretty new to this game... Read the rules for a couple of time (think I can most of
them...) and decided to go for a Imperial fleet, mostly because I wanted a human-like fleet with some good 'ol broadsides. Also they are comparly cheap and I dont want to play chaos again (Play Wh40k CSM).
Well, here the first try list:
Fleet-Admiral B. Zandrum 50p
Flagship Armageddon Class Battlecrusier Xiphactinus 235p
Dictator class crusier Orthocone 220p
Lunar class crusier Hybodus /with Nova Cannon 200p
Lunar class crusier Dunkleosteus 180p
4 x Cobra escorts Rhu Squadron 120p
1005p, just write whatever u think of this fleet. I u thinks its really bad, just tell me! And if u got any advice what ship I should add if would make a 1500-2000p list. And about the names. I think RN and WW2 ships names are cool and so, but It seems to me that everybody (like) use those names. So I decided to go with something else. And then, one day when I watched Walking with Dinosaurs: Sea Monster, I got the idea on give the ships names after 'ol terrifing mosters from the past. Do u like it?

Nope, no comments at all.
A billion chinese can't be wrong - eat rice.
Sorry Balthazar...I would have commented earlier, but its been a while since I've visited the BFG forum (my attention has been sucked in completely by that damn 40k). I like your list, and any ship can be useful, but for a first time list you may want to hold off on either the Armageddon class cruiser - I personally have never used one but I hear they are overpriced and undergunned. The Dictator is fine and the 2 X Lunars are perfect. I also applaud your selection of 4 Cobras --- torpedo boats rock, especially in an Imp fleet.
Maybe replace your Armageddon with a Mars, or just a regular cruiser. Muck around with the points to bring it around 1000 if you make any changes. Keep those Cobras squadroned together...avoid splitting them up into two squads of 2. Yes, it will divert your enemy's fire, but that doesn't matter as much in BFG, and escort squadrons of 2 get chopped up really fast.
To add to your fleet, think more cruisers. Try to get a mix of lances in there (at least one Gothic class), as well as some fighter/bomber support in the form of a Mars or Dominator (Mars is by far the better choice). Don't look at a battleship until you go over 1500, and when you do, take whatever one appeals to you most, because all Imp battleships are pretty good, despite what you may hear some players say about the Apocalypse or Retribution (the Emperor and Oberon are the most popular, but really, pick what you want). Also, make sure to add some more escorts; I would recommend another squadron of Cobras, and maybe some Swords or Falchions even. Stay away from Firestorms unless your fleet is lacking lances elsewhere. Good luck, and have fun.
Oh, and if you are looking for some names but want to stay away from the tried and true Royal Navy or US ship names (I don't blame you), try checking out the BFG rulebook for inspiration on coming up with your own names, or maybe look up the Star Wars Customizable Card Game online. The reason I suggest that is that the Star Wars CCG (originally released in the late nineties) had a bunch of Star Destroyer cards for the Imperial Fleet, and they all had awesome names (Executor for the flagship is just an example). The other way you could go is make your ships sound dignified or pious, like naming them "Emperor's Might", or "Divine Sanctity". Just have some fun with it, and don't force any names that don't jive with you. I took 3 days to come up with all the names for my Imperial and Chaos fleets, and just jotted them down when they came to me.
Also If you need ship names for both Imperium and Chaos ships, The Empire's Star Destroyers from Star Wars have great names, Judicator, Executor...etc. There's a website with every single star destroyer ever listed in the books and movies...just food for thought if you need names.
Heh, I remember posting an Imperial Navy list a while back. I just did it for the hell of it. But I just took elements from some of my favorite bands and included them in the ship names. For example, Dave Draiman is the vocalist of Disturbed, so one of my cruisers was named the Voice of Draiman. The flagship was a silent tribute to Dimbag Darrell, fittingly named the Axe of Abbott.
Another interesting way of naming ships I've seen used is using Latin names.
I remember that list, Archetype, and those were some really good, original names. Really, Balthazar, just have fun with it. Your ships can be named something straightforward and powerful, or they could reference something obscure that only means something to you. The only problem with Latin names is that Latin is a really tricky language. It always sounds cool, so no problems there, but if you want its meaning and translation to be accurate, research it thoroughly, because often in Latin changing one letter or the ending of a word changes its meaning completely.
So far, I like the really odd, long, and original names you've come up with. Try to make sure any other names you come up with have a similar theme...throwing one regular-named ship like "Enterprise" or "Exeter" or something into a fleet with the names you have will seem out of place.
Thanks all for comment, special you Houston. Drop the Armageddon, okey... But I thinks it good, 4 long-range lances (2 on one side turn) 45cm str 6 weaponbatteries and torps...( nearly same prices for a Overlord) And I will later go for Falchions and a Oberon (Dont like the Emperor, its not "real" battleship to me but I do thinks a battleship need some fighter-cover) and I want a Tyrant or Dominator, but I uses all the weapon batteries u get from the boxed set. Can't you buy extra wp sprues?
After looking up some rules, I see that my fleet list is ilegal. Therefore I choose the Armageddon fleet list and drop the cobras (sad enought....)
So I added 3 Sword insteed, for some extra wb against eldars, which brings the list to 990p.

Or you could use the Bastion Fleets list where its all legal anyway.
If you're going Eldar-hunting with that list, good luck to you. You're wasting points on lances that have a far lower chance of scoring hits. Weapons batteries are the order of the day.
My eldar-hunting list, 1000pts:
Fleet Adm Holness - 50pts.
Avenger - St Volage -230pts
Tyrant - Merhonour - 185
Tyrant - Centurion - 185
Dauntless - Tryal - 110
Dauntless - Leopold - 110
A round thousand, with a mixture of slow moving heavy-hitters and more agile elements that can prove a nasty shock.
