    How Much?

Hi, my friends and I were thinking about BFG, and i was thinking about getting a fleet for x-mas, i would just like to know, how much (money) is a good sized fleet? 1000-2000pts. maybe?

Mr. Burns: Why is everyone being so insolent today?

Smithers: Well sir, it is christmas...

Mr. Burns: I'll decide when its christmas!

Easily for about £50-60 if you have a cruiser heavy imperial/chaos fleet.

Yeah, I just got a 1000pt Eldar fleet over the net. Its about 40 pounds. Which hurts my wallet pretty bad with the current exchange rate

In American terms (since you live in the states, by your profile), you can get two cruisers for $15 (this is with a Chaos or Imp fleet), and a cruiser costs around 200pts, give or take (some go into the upper 200's). Escort blisters usually net you about 150 points per pack. So it's fairly inexpensive to get a 1000pt list together.

If you buy the starter box, it's even cheaper - you get four Imp and four Chaos cruisers, plus the markers and rulebook. You end up getting some of those ships for free, basically, if you compare the cost of the rulebook alone to the cost of the box set.

But the problem with that outlook is that you can get the BG rules for free :w00t:

That's true, but I prefer having a hardcopy (and I know that some people agree), and if you wanted to start either of the fleets in the box and wanted a rulebook, it definitely saves money.

Yeah I definitely recommend the starter box, even though the rulebook is free online.. I prefer having it hardcopy, and the box is great value, it comes with all the counters, roster sheets, and everything you need. Plus the quick reference sheets are fantastic, when I'm teaching someone to play I just hand them one of those and we're pretty much all set.

    a) I already gave the rough costs for a fleet in American, check out post #4. You know, the one that starts with the line, "In American terms..."

    b) The rulebook is FREE online - from GW, meaning that you can go to the Specialist Games website and download it. Point costs for all fleets are inside this. Build whatever sized list you want using this, then look at the online store for costs of what you built.

Specialist Games' BFG site. The Necron pfd is a ways down, under "Harvester and Hunter".

    BFG online store (US)

    Run with that.

Yeah, I know how you feel. But because of the length of the rules, me and my mates decided to print it out (huzzah for lazer printers ). We did this for Inquisitor as well, because going backwards and forwards to the computer sucks big time.
