Lances!, those are pretty nasty vs necrons,

take many of those pulsar escorts( forgot there name) and they have to brace ( or lose many, many hits!

if they don't well, always good for you!

if they do, they don't lose many hits, but you halve there fire power
A word of warning. The next time you get a strange unexplained reading on your Flagship's scanner and sensor arrays, don't dismiss it as a glitch or ghost. The Necrons are a real threat now, and they are out there, biding their time, waiting for you!

Cheers i'll remember that... good advice

But one thing I'm not so sure about is the holofield ignoring lances and lightning arcs(necron gun batteries) they can also move fast enough to catch up with us... I wonder if you can advise me on out manouvering them or sumthing?

Although necrons move fast i think I'm right in saying they have very limited turns compared to the speed they move.(please correct me if I'm talking complete &*%$) I'd suggest making full use of the ability to turn twice in a turn (turn, turn, turn, turn, turn) And try and keep out of range of the lightning arcs they're nasty as youve already pointed out. Try and manuver into range with your first move to fire/ launch ordanance but give yourself leyway to get out of range the next turn. Tke into account the minimum move distance for they're ships and predict where they might turn up.

Despite their fearsome reputation, Necrons are actually easy to beat to the point of being broken.
No other fleet can be so dramatically crippled by one lucky potshot.

    How to beat Necrons:
Pick a target, preferably some big, juicy, high-Victory Point cruiser. First, point every lance you have at it. The Necron player will have to Brace for Impact. Now, granted, his save goes to 2+, making him hard to damage, but all of his firepower has gone straight to hell. (and Necrons are kind of under-gunned to begin with)
Now that you have him braced, fire everything else at it. Don't worry, it won't take much to keep him braced for the rest of the game

    Got that far? Good.

Now pick another juicy target and do the same.

Also, take a look at the Necrons' Victory Point table. You'll find your ultimate keys to victory there. Look how much you get if you even just damage a Necron ship.

With regards to maneuvering, stay in your safe asteroid field, let the Necrons come to you. Necrons are no more maneuverable than anyone else, they're just faster in a straight line.
