    Naming a Ramillies

I have one of these great models, although I've not actually assembled and painted it yet. Partly becuase I want such a great "centerpeice" to look good, and I'm practicing on my 40k IG army and BFG IN fleet.

What I'm looking for, is what these things would be called, more or less accurately according to fluff. (OR just something that sounds cool.)

    Any ideas?

Use standard Navy/Marine ship naming schemes - things like Sword of Contrition, Retribution, His Furious Gaze, **** like that - but make it on a larger scale, if that makes any sense. Where a cruiser might be called "Claws of Justice" (it's one of the examples in the Armada book), a Ramilies could be "His Most Divine Justice" or somesuch. Just scale it up in the same way that you'd have more "epic" names for a battleship than for an escort frigate.

My choice would be location based names. Like "Port Donoria" or "Risha's landing." I might name them like the old british or spanish forts in the Carribean or Malay Archipelego. Like "Port Royal" the previous captitol of Jamaica (i think.) Anyway, lucky you! I've gotta get one of those babies !

Also, are you fielding it as part of an Imperial fleet, or Space Marine. If you are a Marine player you may find names relevant to your chapter.

Imperial Guard player. I was sort of fluffing it as an outpost in the Cadian sector near the Eye originally, although I may decide to be based near the Tau border, as I am working on a Tau fleet. Would make those in-house battles a bit more fluffy.

How does Port Gibraltar sound? Gibraltar Point? Fort Gibraltar? I like the Gibraltar thing, I think.

I think plain "The Gibraltar" is a good idea, myself. Adding point, port, or fort makes it sound strange. "Rock of Gibraltar" or "Throne of Gibraltar" might be cool too.

Hmm, he has a point. Sounds a bit more rogue traderish if that makes any sense :s.

Hmm... I like that "of" idea. But I want to make it clear that it's a location, not so much a ship. Although it moves... Ugh.

How about "Haven of Gibraltar"? Sort of suggests strength, and a rest-stop sort of thing.
