Hate to say this, but you can't use refits in standard games - they're meant for campaigns, to show the evolution of a ships' crews (or in the case of the Nid fleet, the ships themselves). This includes everything on page 92 of Armada: Solar Vanes, Adrenal Sacks, etc. Sorry.
As for the list itself, I've rarely if ever faced a Tyranid fleet of this size without two Hive ships. If your one Hive ship is destroyed your entire fleet will basically go on automatic - makes for hella boring games and almost impossible to win.
I also dislike buying ordnance before the game begins - everything that is capable of launching torpedoes or craft, they get at least one "salvo" for free. The things you're paying for are just markers that start the game on the table instead of in the tubes of specific ships. And considering the range apart that most games begin, the enemy'll have plenty of time to wipe out that 150pts of ordnance before it becomes a danger.
Meg, I believe you can use those upgrades in regular games, as they have points values. True, they are campaign upgrades, but there's nothing to stop you using them in one-offs.
As for the list, It's a bit unbalanced. What's going on with the cruisers? They could be so varied, letting you do pretty much whatever you want with each, but you made them all the same? Can't see the sense. There are far too many escorts too., again, all the same. A very silly idea. Thje whole point of the nid fleet is variation.
Also, get another hive ship.
True, they may be used in one-offs, but that would require your opponent's permission since they are intended for use as campaign rewards. At least, thats how the Nid players I've matched up with usually play. I guess it really isn't explicitly stated one way or the other, but its worth checking with your usual group before committing to.Originally Posted by monsieurcartier
