Hey guys, im a 40k player, and ive been trying to gather some scraps on what Necromunda is. i think its based on gangs and cults that live within the emperiums own hive cities. If iam right then this sounds like an awsome fluff game
PM me about Aurora Prime Vassal fights! Willing and ready!
Hey AlbinoAlien, nice to see another face showing interest in Necromunda.
Before I start on a little rant, here are some good resources to browse through if you are interested in Necromunda:
Specialist games website - forum, rules, and alot more. Be sure to grab the online rulebook.
Eastern Fringe - It's another forum site, not in direct competition with LO, so I think its ok to post it here.
Right, Necromunda is bascially a gang based skirmish game, based around the 2nd edition WH40K rules. The game focusses on a small gang (around ten models) and centres heavily on a campaign style of play, in which each model gains experience, injuries and interesting equipment. It is on a far smaller scale to 40K. I dont mean smaller models, but rather smaller games, and more focus on individual characters and their heroic (or downright sneaky!) actions. You start the campaign with a small band of unexperienced fighters, and build them up through the campaign into mighty warriors. There is also focus on in-between game actions, like earning money and buying equipment. The world itself is "necromunda" (surprise-surprise) and the city in question is "Hive Primus." Hive Primus is a huge hive city in whihc almost all of the battles take place.
If I were you, I would grab the online rulebook from the specialist games website and have a look throught that. Also, post on the other forums I mentioned and get a feel for the Necromunda fanbase. I highly recommend Necromunda, the campaign system is very rewarding - you can watchy little billy-joe grow up from a snot-nosed juve into a vast and devastating master of close combat - awesome!
Good luck with it mate, I hope you enjoy necromunda as much as I do. If you are in need of any more help or have some questions that need answering, feel free to PM me and I'll see what I can do.
I don't think I could have put it any better Rich!
Necromunda is incredibly addictive.
There, I said it. Recognition is the first step to healing...
rp252 said it. It's a great game as not only do the rules go deeper than 40k with each ganger being different, but your gang slowly develops a personality, moreso even that in 40k games. You may thing that your 40 HQ choice has his own persona, have written fluff about him, but you can't say that about every single model in your army. You can with Necromunda.
And the modeling prospects, especially when it comes to scenery & terrain, are endless. Something to definately get into if that's your thing.
Also, you can actually download the necromunda rulebook in PDF format absolutely free from GW's specialist game site, rp252 has the link (and a vague mention to the rulebook being there, but maybe not explicit enough) in his post.
