    The best ship.

Hello everyone, I trust all is well?

Right, I have searched for this and don't think one has been done before on LO. It is a simple question really - What is your favourite ship in BFG and why? If you have several favourites from different standpoints (i.e. I like shipA because it kills lots, but I prefer shipB for its fluff, and shipC looks so cool!) then put them all and say why you like them.

Personally, My favourite is the Styx. I use the Styx heavy cruiser in almost every game I play. It has huge lauch bays, repectable long range weaponry and IMO looks very cool. Those twin launch bays make it look just great. Also, I think the Retribution class battleship is cool - and it has massive batteries - Brilliant ship. If I were to say what ship I think looks best, it would have to be the Ciarn Tombship. For some reason it just looks like it going to kill you, everyone you know and all their relatives Big, mysterious and mean; whats not to like?

Overall fave is definatly the Styx though. So, tell me whats the best ship for you, and tell me why

    Cheers,
    Rich.

Honestly, there really isn't a "best ship" out there.

Favorites, I can answer though. The Armageddon Battlecruiser is one of my favorites. 2 lances and 6 batteries per side, 2 dorsal lances, and prow torpedoes of S6. And all of the weapons are 45cm or 60cm, including the lances! The SM Battlebarge is probably my favorite Battleship, and favorite model based purely on appearance. After all, it has S12 batteries on both sides, prow launch bays AND torpedoes, and a dorsal bombardment cannon - hands down the most fun weapon in the game, in my experience. Not to mention 6+ armor and 12 hits!

For asthetics, a personal favorite is the Tau Custodian class. It just looks beutiful and so much more Tau-esque than the regular BFG ships.

As for a ship I never do without, the Tau Warden gunships are absolute beatings. I love the little guys and they do so much damage for their points. Hands down my favorite escort in the Tau fleet. An imperial favorite is the Cobra, I never leave home without at least 6 of the little buggers.

My favorite ship like Mastershake is a Tau one, but not the same one. Mine is the Hero, while not as styling as the forgeword tau ships, it's utility and firepower are quite impressive for it's point value. I agree there is no single best ship, but that one is my favorite.

I agree. The title was merely phrased that way to grab attention, as all good titles are. As you can see from above, I am enquiring as to what peoples favourite ships are. Good choice with the Battle Barge - an awesome ship, both rules wise and aesthetically. I should have put that as one of my faves now I think about it!

I also like the new Forgeworld Tau stuff. The large carrier vessel (custodian?) is very cool. The Emissary class also looks nice, and after you have played Fire Warrior you just have to smile when you see a model of it

    Cheers,
    Rich

I'm not sure if I have a rules favourite ship, but I do have a aesthetic favourite. The Imperial Cobra, absolutely gorgeous! Its not to bitty and gothic, bit its not too Star-Wars-ish either.

Thinking about that, I have a large orthographic plan of a Cobra that I made, i'll post it up as it would be easy to make a large scale model out of it !

my favourite is the mars class battlecruiser as im my opinion its a good all rounder with launch bays weapons battery's and lances for the finishing blow to any broadside and its nova cannon is just a bonus the only thing this ship is missing is torpedoes

I generally just use the FW models with counts as rules (not like theres a fleet list for them yet) mainly because I really don't like the look of the other Tau fleet, they just don't feel Tau'esque.

As for the hero class, I love the darn thing, easily a match for the imperial cruisers and cheaper than most imperial cruisers, but the little wardens (counts as Orcas) are always the backbone of my fleets, you just can't beat a firestorm frigate for 15 pts less.

Now there is a brilliant idea, with I had thought of it. . . well my fleet is still small. . .
There are rules for those ships, you just have to buy a way overpriced book to get them. Compared to the rules for everything else (free download off the internet) I've chosen to stick with the basic non-forge world rules.

I've got the taros book, they have rules for the ships (pretty much the same anyways) but no fleet list to use them with (brilliant move GW)
