hey all i have a quick question as to where online i can get me some cobras and a dauntless for my carrier battlegroup. THX
Well, it depends what country you are in. The US store no longer stocks them, but you can find cobras on the canadian and british online stores, possibly other online stores.

Canada - http://ca.games-workshop.com/storefr...orignav=300808
hmm think i can get them from the canadian store seeing as how im for NY?
HAZAAA just went down to the loca hobby store today and foud ALOT of BFG stuff namley cobras! i had to pick up a pack. but strangly one of the ships looks like its mounting a lance on ethe starboard side. is this normal or did i get a defective one?
That is completely normal. There are several different types of each escort (to give each class some variety) and one of the types of cobra has a large communications mast sprouting from one of the "wings".
Its completely normal, nothing to worry about
word man thx. i was thinking of altering the rules to make that mast a lance. what you think aobut that?
Not so sure about that. Lances are meant to to be huge weapons that take up large quantities of room. Look at the Firestorm, they can only mount one and are meant to be much bigger than Cobras.
The main strength of the Cobra are the torpedoes it carries. Giving it a lance would add very little of value (as they don't really compliment the cobra's current role) whilst increasing its points value. You could do it if you want to, but you will find you pay quite a few additional points for a vessel with very little added utility.
If you look at the Cobra entry in the rulebook it says there you can replace the Cobra's batteries with a enhanced sensor/comms system. Maybe you could use the Cobra model you were talking about to represent that?
hmm good idea i could use that particular cobra to act as a spotter for the rest of the squadron
If you choose to upgrade in the fashion I mentioned above then the upgrade applies to the whole squadron, not just one of the ships. As such, every ship in the squadron loses it's weapons batteries but gains the Ld bonus for enemy contacts. Maybe you could just lump all the long-antenna cobras into one squadron and use them to represent the upgraded squadron.
This upgrade is often very useful with Cobras. They use their Ld value to test for reloading ordnance almost every turn and hardly ever even use their weapons batteries. It can help massively in keeping those torpedo tubes loaded.
ohhhh well that sounds good thx man.
