im a big fan of the Dark Eldar in 40k, and im just wondering if anyone has any experience using them in BFG? The only thing i know about em is that they only really have two different ships...which seems kinda limitting. Im guessing they arent great for newbs, but if they're anything like they are in 40k, i'd probably be ok with em
Well, they are just like DE in 40k. They are fast and deadly, but they can't take damage for squat. You have to keep maneuvering them very well or you'll lose them in a couple of shots.
Their other drawback is that they are so freakin limited. They have NO options, just two ships, and those ships aren't all that great to be honest.
Imperial Navy, Chaos, Tyranids, Eldar, Tau and Space Marines have great fleets with LOTS of options (especially Tyranids). Orks have lots of options too, but their main objective is to ram other ships, which means that they usually blow themselves up in the process. I've never seen an Ork Fleet win a battle, personally.
one thing i noticed about the DE in BFG dont cost as much $$ as do other ships...only like 15 bucks for one their larger ships. But i think they look kinda dorky...i dont know, imperial ships look the coolest i think...maybe i'll just stick with 40k, lol
Tyranids have a lot of options? How, i have only seen about 3-5 different ships in their army.
I find Tyranids do have alot of options in their varying fleet lists (I've seen mounds of them around the place). This makes up for their lack in models as certain ships can be used as different options.
PS: being an ork player I concead it is hard to win - that's why I have a space hulk (won every game and has only ever been destroyed by a blackstone fortress combined with an imperial assassin) Waagh.
"Where dere's wun - dere's ple'ty more!"
My friend is Dark Eldar... and has only lost once. He's won county-wide BFG tournaments, and is the current champion at the Battle Bunker in Orange County.
Yes, Dark Eldar are good. (of course, he's a very skilled player, but the fleet helps a lot).
As far as the options are concerned, the Impaler Assault Module is the best option in the game. EVERY escort you have can carry one. Instant 2D6 critical.
You know how Eldar are a *&%$ to destroy? Stupid Holofields. Well, DE have Holofields (Shadowfields) as well, but their armor is the same as Chaos- 5. And they have more hits, and dont critical on a 4+. So they can take a beating (almost) as well as the standard fleets against weapons batteries (some say better because of the right column shift), and Lances/Torpedoes/Bombers prove to be nearly ineffective because of the Shadowfield 2+ save.
I've come very close to beating him on several occasions with Necron. I've even destroyed more ships than he.... but Necron get dinged on Victory Points very quickly.
The only time he ever lost was in a game just for fun, where he squared off 500 points of Escorts against my 500 points of Tombship. . Of course this could never happen in a "real" game because of the field requirements to use a Tombship.... but the Tombship by itself destroyed his 10 escorts. Ah. Love BFI.
Although they only have two models they have almost as many configirations as the Eldar.
Well vindicare, i have a friend who wanted DE in BFG but wasn't very impressed so he just made an eldar fleet painted it in kabal colours and simply uses the good eldar rules.
His fluff resoning for this is that the Eldar fleet are actually eldar pirates and thus could be DE.

"Thats the one"</span>
"Oh man, look at that."
"Over there, by that river of boiling souls."
"Well I'll be damned... it's a Starbucks."

They are a lot more limiting than the eldar, but they are OK. (not amazing). 2 ships are both good, but I find it a bit boring. Depends what you like, really. They play like the eldar.
Never drink more than 2 Pan-Galactic Gargle Blasters unless you are a thirty-ton Mega Elephant with brocal pheomonia!
Hey Altirus, do you have a list of the ships your friend uses.
