Hiya, Ive just bought my very first ship God they are detailed! Ive never seen one up close before! and ITS HUGE!
Anyway, now ive put across how new and dumb i am in regards to bfg, i have questions.
Ive bought this ship for the painting comp, but after receiving it im going to start collecting, so......
The base. Do you guys leave it as a nice clear flyer base? Or do you black it out?
Colours. Ive Bought a despoiler battleship, but got bits to convert it into a space marine battle barge, What colours would you guys suggest? I was thinking...
Black, drybrushed grey, gold. With details in any colour.
Or one of the below pics (Ive just color edited them on photoshop to get some different looking combinations.)
The main ship here.
Lovin' the ship in the first pic. Was it modeled to look like the Battlestar Galactica? or is that just a coincidence?
In regards to your basing question: I always black out the base and then paste a printed strip of paper with the ship's name onto it.

Well, the paint scheme is really a very subjective thing and it depends heavily on what you think is good. If you really can't decide then grab some escorts and paint them up in the schemes you have in mind and see which you prefer. You may find that seeing them "in the flesh" might help finalise the decision. as for a colour for detail work - find a colour wheel and use it to find a colour that contrasts with the main colour of the ship. For better advice on this search the painting forum; you should find some good info on how to use a colour wheel.
As for painting the bases - I paint them black and then use an old toothbrush to apply a star pattern. Follow this link and look at my post for some more detailed info - http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...avy-ships.html
Good luck buddy.
