As this game is on the verge of release i thought this would be a good place to discuss it (until it earns a sub forum of its own)
who is getting it? and what type of air wing are you planning?
myself, i'm building an imperial navy air wing comprising 5 squadrons
all will have different colour schemes and background.
- thunderbolt fighter squadron
lightning interceptor squadron
lightning ground support squadron
marauder bomber squadron
marauder destroyer ground support squadron
eventually i may even have aces with some personal history.
i plan to keep flying logs for each aircraft.
looking forward to it, it'll be fun.

Yeah, I intend to grab myself a copy of the game when it is released, though I have yet to decide upon which faction to collect. I'm not too sure how the game plays yet, so I'm going to read a little about it before I decide - though to be honest I Think Eldar aircraft are cool so I'll probably end up going for them.
Keeping flying logs for each aircraft might be a tad difficult, but will give you some cool fluff for your force. I fully intend to paint kill markings on each of my aircraft for each time they shoot down an opponent.
EDIT: Just read the last FW news letter and looked at the FW website section for Aeronautica Imperialis. What can I say. I was looking forward to it before, now I just want to grab myself a copy of the book and get reading. Must put an order online for it later on. The book looks like it is going to be up to the usual FW standard - excellent. And the models looks stunning; very tempted to collect a tau force as well!
I was just looking at that on the FW site. How does the game play? It looks like it's a bit like the 'Wings of War' game if you know that.
No more NG spearmen, thanks! Now I need some pump-wagons!
I ordered the book last weekend and it aint come yet. Once it has I'll read it (lol) and let you know. As far as I know you get special bases with altitude and speed counters built into them, and fly around the board in squadrons fulfilling missions like intercept or ground attack. The book looks quite stunning though, can't wait for it to arrive. Once it comes I'll tell you a little more about it, nothing that will break copyright though XD.Originally Posted by The Paint Monkey
Does look like it will be fun. If it is anything like BFG I'll love it.
Id like to hear from anybody who has read the rule book - is the game worth the price tag of 35 pounds?
If only you were a Marine - you too could savour the taste of victory!
Personally I would say it is worth the money. The rules are fun and the models look fantastic. It really depends what you are looking for in a game, but if you like the idea of a 40K style dogfight then this is the game for you.
I've written an introduction article to AI which I'm going to submit to the webmag soon. Keep an eye out for that.
I'm certainly interested in the game. It's another game where Eldar rock (then again, they always rock!).
I'll be ordering my Nightwings and Phoenixes soon. I'm also working on developing space battles over at Airspace.
