Welcome to Librarium Online!
Well, I figured there would probably already be a topic along these lines in here, but obviously not, so what have been your funniest/best/classic moments in an Inquisitor game?
Personally, mine has to be the game I was playing earlier today. There were 7 characters in the game, in 3 teams of 2 and a lone eldar ranger. We had two teams of 'good guys' I was in one of them. The third team was two tyranid characters. Anyway, part way through, we have the two tyranids in close combat with the other team, with myself and the other member of the team blasting away at the larger and beefier of the two. So far during the battle, the first tyranid (the weaker one) had been knocked from a speed of 5 down to a speed of 3. He got hit by a multi-melta at close range, and lost another 1 speed, though it also killed him.
Anyway, the guy who had the multi-melta was then free to fire at the big tyranid the next turn. At this moment in time, my character was stood on top of a building ready to drop a plasma grenade on top of the tyranid (which I had failed to do for the last 2 turns >_>) anyway, this other character takes a few steps forward, and managed to loose a shot off at the tyranid, he got a 1 to hit. Making it a placed shot, he then proceeded to get something like 96 for the hit location. Needless to say we figured the tyranid was out of it at that point. But we decided to roll the damage just to check. So, away he goes with 5D10, and gets a grand total of 39 damage with the shot. Making it not just a light wound, nor just a heavy one. He went straight to a crippling injury on his head. However at that point we mutually decided that because the thing was so large it wouldn't just die, so we made the owner of the character roll a scatter dice and a D3 to see which way the thing fell. It proceeded to fall right on top of the guy who had been in close combat with it, killing him, and it also scraped 2 inches along the floor crashing into the other character on that team, taking him out of the action. Myself and my teammate were still alive and kicking, with the only other opponent being the Eldar ranger. Unfortunately we had to stop the game at that point, but I personally can't quite get over the multi-melta headshot
Oh, and to top it off, I managed to drop the plasma grenade during that turn, after the tyranid had been killed, just to incinerate the evidence so my character and his teammate could claim the glory for killing both the tyranids and the other inqusitors as well :ninja:
So, as I say, anyone else out there got any good inquisitor moments they would like to share. And feel free to write them from the character's point of view.
What were the two tyranid beasties?
Really only Genestealers fit in when not in a large-scale invasion, but a SUPPOSE there could be some that got left behind or something.
best one I had was a khorn zerker chopping the leg off my preist with a chainsword. My mate then opted to stamp on his head as he ran off for another target.
I think the most memorable one I've had, was one of the new players was using a space marine to 'try it out' and boltering everyone to death that moved :3
however a Crime lord charater that had been sneaking up behind him threw a tanglefoot grenade at him, which didn't cut out for 7 turns, during which the GM decided that due to power armour the marine couldn't see where he was shooting, so just shot in random directions while the opposition retrived the relic they were after
Well, I've had no shortage of "memorable" moments in INQ (many, many more than in 40k, I have to say, which kind of explains why I love INQ so much more).
Most recently, I GM'd a game for a new player that involved his character having to climb to the lip of a crater wherein a massive, subterranean daemon was dormant after laying waste to everything within 10km (my club has some interesting terrain pieces).
Climbing to the top was risky, with the result of a failed risk being to fall D3 yards back down the side for each failed risk roll (I use different risk rules to the ones in the LR. But once he'd got to the top, there was a 1 in 2 chance that he would tumble into the crater and be consumed by the daemon if he failed his risk roll.
As it happened, he got lucky and survived, but the moment of tension when he had to roll a 4+ to fall the right way... well, let's just say that I won a new convert to INQ in that moment.
My best moment happened a few days ago...my assassin used telekinesis to fling a throwing knife into a combat with an elctropriest and a commissar (i was on neither team) it hits the commissar and does a bit of damage...at this point im happy because i hit my target (i hadnt attacked the electro priests team so he didnt attack me) however when i tried it the second time i hit the electropriest and knocked him prone...his commander worked out the exact projectile route with his sagacity and sent a gun drone out of a windo in a building and flamed me to death in one go.....
...in the same game my inquisitor was charged by as guy with the same weapons as gruss i dodged the first blow but he got a placed and critical shot causing his breacher to cripple my head....i died.
Good luck, and may the dice gods smile upon you and smite your foes
