Having read another thread elsewhere, it occured to me that I'm not the only BBer who's been getting crap luck of late.
Consider the following:
*I used to be the guy that could win a game with my LOTR Orcs breaking some Gondorian elites at perfectly the right time.
*My Cannon shots used to ALWAYS land on target due to some great rolls from the Artillery Die.
*My Mortar used to be able to kill stuff.
*Come to think of it, almost all of my units were able to pull thier weight. My Eldar could break any unit in one turn, my GG were beating Orcs in combat comfortably, my proxied WRs once proved to be a one-unit army, just to name a few.
Then, I took up BB. Hugely fun game, even when on the wrong end of a huge massacre.
*Even mobbed up tackles went sour, me finding my turns ending prematurely.
*Sprinting. You have Griff Oberwald needing to roll a single 2+ with re-rolls. He falls over.
*Passes, Dodges, Catches, you name it.
Whilst this crap luck isn't so bad in BB because it's still heaps of fun regardless.
BUT, I have noticed several strange happenings back in GWs more mainstream games. Starting with 40K:
*My Banshees have failed to beat Tactical Marines on occassions.
*My Russ crewmen need to get their vision tested, their kills to date stand at a few FWs, and the odd group of Marines. Likewise, the pixies have gotten into it's armour.
*The Wave Serpent has been killed by Krak Grenades of all things.
*Even the Harlequins have had found themselves on the wrong end of a combat on multiple occassions.
Recently, I got back into WHFB:
*The Mortar has blown itself up Turn 1 for the last 3 games, only this last game did it actually do anything.
*My WW Hero has missed a unit of DE Spearmen from shooting... at point blank (Damnsome funny though admittedly).
*The Helblaster too has achieved mediocrity, one time failing to roll any 6s from a batch of about 20 dice (then getting 2 misfires in one volley about a turn later)
*Likewise, my Handgunners have found themselves unable to hit much from shooting as well.
*The list continues, but ends here to save trees.
This is all very interesting given that all this happened since I took up BB. Now, I'm not complaining (much), nor am I about to drop BB, but it does beg the question. Has anyone else noticed the pixies of Nuffle doing their work ever since you found yourself playing this spiffy game?
maybe its just karma biting you in the ass for having such good luck before
can't say i ever noticed it, but Blood Bowl was the second GW game i bought, straight after Tyranid Attack, and only after that i went on to 40k and fantasy
Back in the zone!
I started with blood bowl. Always failed the really important roll. Now its the same in fantasy. Did BB cause the bad rolls, who knows, but I don't want to anger the pixies of nuffle by blaming anyone.
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
I have never played Blood Bowl, but I have terrible luck in WHFB and 40k...
Then again I did used to play Man O War almost exclusively, maybe its niche GW games in general that are cursed and not just BB?
PLAN CLAN MAN!!
He who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man- S. Johnson
Conversely, BB is the one game where I seem to get GOOD luck. I never seem to get casualties, but win a LOT. I think my biggest talent is being able to "wing it and give it a try", the best example of this being, with no RR left, a gobbo dodging twice to get to the ball, picking up on a 5, dodging another 3 times to get into position to pass to a blitzer who had to GFI to hit the end zone having been on the floor, and passing it on a LP on a 6 catching on a 3 to win the game 2-1, having been 1-0 down with 3 turns to go. Fantasy and 40k just never seem to go my way though, even before nuffle came along.
OO OO I see an oppurtunity here!! My chaos guys challenge your empire army again sometime this week AFG!!
( I have to get at least some payback for the thrashing 2 weeks ago)
Next week, you're on.
I think you'll find that the curse has lasted longer than 2 weeks.
I've played WFB, W40k, BB, Mordheim, Necromunda an even "watched" 40k epic.
I had the same issue you are having. It's true. one game can effect the others.
But i found out "WHY".
it's not the order in which you played them, it's not Pixies or anything game related.
It's the dice.
I used to us the same cube of dice for my chaos, my necrons, my bugs and my bloodbowl (for breaking armor or weather, or kickoff etc.)
It wasn't until I got my own separate set of "BLOODBOWL" dice, to go with my block dice, did I begin seing WINs again.
Dice are like a lady in some aspects. They want to feel special, want to be focused on one game.
Trust me. If you haven't got separate dice....do it. If you hav got separat dice....buy new dice.
Rome wasn't built in a day, Either should good scenery.
I also have a "special dice" that is fist sized that I use for that much needed vital roll. Its the only dice in my club that DOESN'T have to be rolled on the table for it to count, and if it is the roll is autofailed!!! Needless to say, it rolls well.
