I started playing mordhiem a few months ago but still haven't commited myself to buying my own warband and wondered if anyone could suggest anything?
I like the look and sound of Reiklanders, (Expert marksmen i believe) and wanted the opinions of some more veteran gamers.
Are Reiklanders good or should i go with someone else?
my m8 has a reiklander warband which has advanced to the status of GODLIKE, he rarely loses more than one member in a game and all his dudes are packed to the hilt with special skills... Yes they are hard to play with at first but once they level up they are terrifying.
"Remember; long, uncontrolled bursts."
pirates all they way, they are so original, and have cool stuff, like parrots.
Reiklanders are great off the bat... But they are rather "blah" in the flavor depot... I myself go with the Undead (gotta love the vampires), Orcs and Goblins (who cares about fighting amongst yourselves? not I...), or Middenheimers/Kislevites (nothing like some frenzied Norsemen charging you...)
Go back or face thy doom
Pirates probably are the most characterful bunch (of the human variety, of course... we all know orcs n gobbos take first overall). But if you like the sound of expert marksmen, the Miraglean list is even better (if your group allows Lustria warbands), as they get the normal +1 BS for Reiklanders, but all their heroes get +1 to hit when using a crossbow. Other thant that though, almost all the human warbands are the same.
What really makes them fun is making up stories behind your guys, so be sure to come up with some good names.
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, even if it's wrong.
Ive been out of the loop for awhile, but last I heard was that Pirates were not an "official" warband and that their rules were being re-done to make them better for the game.
That doesnt mean they arent awesome, or that they cant be played in friendly games. However, if you are on a budget or dont want to completely throw yourself into the hobby, you may way to stick with one of the simpler Human Mercenary warbands.
