Welcome to Librarium Online!
although this sub forum is almost dead, maybe some of my esteemed colleagues will read this topic after all.
We are trying to get a new Bloodbowl league going in Houston, TX. We want to play at the GW Marq-E starting in October.
If you are interested - answer in this topic, PM me or jsut come and see us at the store (every Saturday).
Note to mods - if you think this topic should go in another forums (such as meet-ups), please move it.
Shut up and play.
How's it going? Just curious if y'all are still going to be playing BB at marq'e. We are just finishing a league at GW-Rice and will be starting another league soon. Our inaugural league was 8 players and we'll be looking to add a few more players when we start the next season.
We're using LRB 5.0 with no real house rules. Currently, we are not playing with the Special Play Card but we'll be meetng after the season to see if we go with a new commissioner and if any rules will be changed.
Let me know if you're interested in joining us.
Not exactly sure how many players we are going to have just yet. But we'll see how it goes once we start in October.
Seriously though - I am at the Marq-E pretty much every Saturday, so come over and pick up a game and then we can discuss offline. Just ask for the crazy German.
And if this league kicks off we can always play an inter-league tournament for bragging rights.
Shut up and play.
I hope you were able to find a home for your league. It's a blessing and a curse to lose the Mar-q. Just a heads up, there's a tourney in Austin that a few of us are going to road trip to play in.
Also, we may have a small tourney this winter. This last league has dragged on due to a few people traveling and scheduling conflicts so I don't forsee anything before the new year Blood Bowl wise.
WE moved our league to GW Katy and it is going strong.
WE have about 5 regulars and about 3 guys playing on and off. There are a bunch of enw players starting and it looks like we are going to have enough interest to keep the league going next year for a second "season".
I am trying to get play offs done in January and then we'll see how much interest existes afterwards for maybe playing some Dungeonbowl.
You are more than welcome to joing us. Most of the action happens on Saturdays.
Shut up and play.
I'm glad to hear it worked out. Unfortunately, I won't be trekking out to Katy in the near future and if I am, I'll probably be spending some time with my girlfriend's family.
BTW, not sure if you do road trips but there's going to be a tourney in Austin, here's the info I've received.
As for the tourney, it's a one day, 3 game swiss style tourney in Austin, Texas on Sunday, 12/16.
I've attached the rules as a document but I've included some highlights:
$10 entry fee
Swiss style, no two teams will play twice
2 hour 15 minute limit on games and no over time
Only pre game rolls will be for weather and fame, no post game rolls
Rosters reset after each game
TV will be 1 million with no inducements, except halflings (and only official teams)
Skills: after game 1, two normal skills, after game 2 two norm and one doubles skill (foreit norms to give dbl to big guy and no player may have more than 2 skills)
Players will use the same dice through out the match, which will be shared.
Win: 55 points
Tie: 30 points
Loss: 15 point
TD: 5 points
Casualty: 3 points
Painting will also be scored.
Also see below for possible prizes.
from one of the organizers:
I spoke with the GW rep from Baltimore at the Alamo IGT this weekend
about prize support for this event. here is what he offered and its
1. Store to get the trouphy and will be given a credit of up to $150,
so that gives us a lot to work with. A good permeant trouphy and maybe
some plaqes to take home!
2. Possible 2 team boxes of the NEW upcoming team scupts as prizes. He
said there are 4 NEW SCULPTED teams including Orcs and Khemri!
How does that sound? I will confirm with BFG and Harry from GW.
Yeah, I was kind of surprised how well the game was received here. But I guess it was just a matter of playing a few games and let people see how much fun it is.
You are still invited tocome over on Saturdays. If you can;t make it regularly at least come over once and have a look. I am sure your GF wouldn;t mind spending a oucple of hours at the mall while your talking/playin with us.
I try to avoid tournaments as much as I can. It usually brings out the worst in people. And it seems BB players are even more "competitive" than other geeks. But then again, maybe I just have too much bad experience there.
Shut up and play.
Blood Bowl is a fun game and it has a minimal start up cost. We actually even made two custom boards and one more is in mind (we built them on a 1.5/square scale makes everything fit nicer on the board).
We'll see if I make it out to katy anytime soon and if not feel free to give me a heads up and we can meet at Rice (I live in the Galleria area so it's much closer). I finally got around to asking PJ about you and he had a lot of good things to say about you. I never really made it to Marq'e although I was/am acquaintences with John, Ric, and a few of the other guys who gamed at the Marq'e
As for the tourney, we're competitive players although none of us is a win at all costs gamer (if so I would have won my play-off game). We like to play to win while having a good time so we hope to find the same in Austin. As of right now, we have 3 confirmed for the trip with a couple of maybes.
If you want, feel free to e-mail me directly at frank_jimenez2000 at yahoo dot com.
Anyone aware of any current BB leagues in Houston?
Thanks in advance for the info.
Actually, I'm not even in Houston right now, I'm in western Colorado for the immediate future.
I did see that a couple of people were talking about getting some games at Montag's (Pearland). You can also check with GW Rice and/or Katy.
