I've never played LARPed, but I love D&D(not 3 or 3.5), AD&D(not 2nd ed.), old school Battletech, Mutants and Masterminds, Gatecrasher(my fave!), Warhammer 40,000, DeadLands, Consume All Flesh(if you love zombies, try it out), and Cyberpunk. God, I am old if I like Cyberpunk. If you guys know of any roleplaying sites that are free that deal with any of these games, I'd really like to know, thanks!

I started about 5 or maybe 6 years ago. With IRC-based roleplaying in the Star Wars universe. A lot of people have problems imaging how this works, but it is well comparable to forum-based roleplaying - with the only difference being people posting their actions simultaneously. This was my first contact with roleplaying, and I have never regret that.If you want to check out the website (that rpg still exists) go to this place. It's all german though. Well, the next thing I did was playing "Das Schwarze Auge", a very popular german pen&paper game that just made it to an english edition called "The Dark Eye". According for what I heard from D&D so far, DSA is more focused on actual roleplaying than hack & slay - although it is a matter of the individual gamemaster, of course. Last year I tried participating in a large forum-based Wh40k roleplaying game, being one of four Battle Sisters. This was really a lot of fun, since the whole rpg consisted of about 60 players, and each fraction of the Wh40k universe was present as a player party - up to all three branches of the Inquisition and one group of pirates. Sadly something (I do not know what, maybe the gm's had issues with themselves) happened and the site got shut down. The other players seem to have gone to another rpg. Right now I'm big into online roleplaying. Since 2 1/2 years I am playing Ultima Online on a roleplaying-heavy freeshard, having a male squire, one female cultist and one female Drow soldier as characters. Recently I have transferred the Drow to a very good NWN persistent world, though, where I also played a female half-elven thief. As for other things I have tried out we have Shadowrun (I have an elven tactical specialist there, a former knight errant officer that got kicked out of the corp because she messed up with some undercover ops; "Raven" lived two years on the streets and then started shadowrunning - she uses a modified Ruger 100 and an Ares Predator III for favorite weapons). Then we have the D20 Star Wars where I have a young female human Darkside Marauder called Taleera Nightsinger, who is the hot-tempered apprentice to a cruel Twi'lek Darkside mistress who found her as a lone survivor from some starship crash in the jungle of a backwater world. Whilst the Twi'lek is using a lightsaber and a neurowhip, my character has specialized on using a telescopic fighting staff as well as a blaster pistol. I have also been to a so called LARP "ambiente convention", where the focus is on playing your character in everyday life or some special event (such as the crowning of a king, a royal wedding or a turney of knights). I am rather new to the whole LARP thingie though, but I had a lot of fun. ![]() Well - so much for now. ^_^

I started 17 years ago with D&D (the boxed set). Since then I played with Call of Cthulhu (still one of my favourite games), Cyberpunk, Cybergeneration, Paranoia, Vampire (the Dark Ages, Kindred of the East), Werewolf (the Wild West, the Apocalypse), AD&D (3.5ed, Eberron), Mage (the Ascension), Dark Heresy, LoTR, Shadowrun and Rifts. I really enjoyed Rifts and played it for more than 10 years, but I am not interested in it anymore- The game I am currently playing is Exalted (1st edition... we can't stand the new tick system), I played it once a week for more than two years. I am more a GM than a player, but it 's been a while since I GMed a game. I would like to play again Call of Cthulhu, and try at least once Anima, All flesh must be eaten, and Unhallowed Metropolis. |
