    Only without the furries.
I thought as much. I don't know much on the Storyline, but from what I've heard its decent too.
But Werewolves rock, so...well thats my mind made up right there. lol.

Ratkin. Ratkin and Bonegnawers were the only changing breeds I could stand. Mostly because ratkin were tons of fun and lacking in the random useless angst that seemed to engulf the WtA game towards the end. Same goes for the Gnawers.
Still love Vampire though. They were monsters, but at least they didn't lie about it, unlike alot of the other games.

I don't know why I didn't notice this thread sooner...

Personally, I prefer Mage at the moment. Just got the new rulebook and I like the way its been simplified and organised somewhat better than it was in the previous edition. The previous Mage book was notoriously difficult to understand, IMO. I like Vampire a lot too, as that's the game I started the White Wolf system playing, but I have never really tried Werewolf. I dunno...maybe I will someday.

It's kind of hard to, but lemme see...
Basically, humanity has always been at the whims of the supernatural. The Kindred feast upon them and guide them like puppets in their eternal Jyhad. The Garou's purpose is to cull humanity, to keep their numbers small in order to preserve what THEY consider to be the proper balance. The Fae feed upon humanity's dreams and nightmares like a parasite, their claim of rewarding humans with creativity a sham compared to the damage they can do and their own fickle natures. Mages wage their war against each other, with the fate of humanity hanging in the balance as they fight tooth and claw against either stagnate banality or dangerous chaos. Wraiths cling to their past lives, finding their strength from the emotions that humans suffer from, or using them to enact vengence from beyond the grave. Ancient mummies emerge and watch from the shadows, immortal and unknowable. There are even whispers of the fallen angels themselves possessing the bodies and minds of humanity as they attempt to regain all that they had lost.
Enough is enough. Humanity has for too long been nothing more then prey to the Darkness. There will be a Reckoning, and it will be delivered by the hands of humanity itself.
    Cool, eh?
Basically, a true Hunter (or Imbued) has had an epiphiny about the world around them. They've been awakened to the dangers that haunt the night and the day. They are given special signs and warnings, as well as powers, to combat the evils (and they must be evil, they are not human) that stalk them in the night. It's interesting to note that the Hunters themselves, towards the end, slowly became less and less human (madness is one of their hallmarks as they grow in power). It is not uncommong for younger Hunters to be forced to hunt down some of their Wayward brethern. There are different types of Hunters; its your character's first reaction to the supernatural which defines what his Creed is (Do you attack the creature that threatens you? Do you protect the children that were about to be fed upon? To you attempt to reason with the beast, attempt to redeem it?), which in turn defines which powers he may gain.
I'm not sure what exactly it was that gave them their powers. The Fallen were hinted at, I beleive, but so were the Inconnu. The Hunters aren't sure themselves. Most of them don't care.
It's an interesting game (like most of the White Wolf stuff). Defiantly worth a look. Just remember, this is the World of Darkness. Hunters aren't sparkling white heros. They're humanity, in all of its glory and horror.

well, thank you citybeatnik for that extensive report. for that you get reputation! :w00t: also, you have convinced me to get the core rules! i love the more gritty and dark setting so much more than the happy-go-lucky setting of D&D. also i knew the basics of hunter, i played the video game(not sure if its very accurate) and thats what got me interested in it.(my favorite character was judge) dont mean to bother you any more, but are there really magic powers(like judge has), and if they are, are they actually very straight forward or more subtle? thanks for any help!
