I remember that, well I don't personally remember but I've seen all those statues in the British museum of naked folk. There was also that film Caligula about that crazy Roman emporer who commanded his army to attack a field of papyrus. All these naked blokes with a few helmets on etc charged out and started hacking up the plants. Then again Caligula was a dodgy film.
I think some of the statues from ancient times may not be an accurate representation of how things when on then. It is probably similar to how we show celebrites today. Pictures of celebrites always have them plastered with makeup and in very flattering lighting. Also somebody goes over the image with photoshop and does away with all the spots etc or puts the celebrities head onto a sexier body, bigger boobs, slimmer waist, bigger muscles etc.
I think the same thing was done in ancient times. Statues of folk from back then always have them with perfect bodies all perfectly proportioned and extremely healthy and strong looking. This was done on purpose to make these people look better the same way we make celebrities and other public figures look good today.
It does make me wonder if people thousands of years in the future will see uber-sexy celebrities dispatching evil-doers (Alan Rickman being done in by Bruce Willis for example), will people see this in the distant future and think from thier perspective that all us ancients were all uber-sexy or beefcake studs.

Hahahahahahahaha!! Clearly someone was offended!
On the naked side- Spartans frequently went in to battle with only sandals, helmet and shield- and they're fairly well known for being quite good at bashing people. Apparently knifing everyone within reach is hot work- especially in the Greek summer.
No more NG spearmen, thanks! Now I need some pump-wagons!
It's typically assumed that Hellenistic artwork is romanticizing the human form, especially when you look at their diets. Most people were skinny, and the general populace was often malnourished, which begs the question of how one achieves the large muscular legs and perfect abs. Speaking of perfect abs, I actually have them...they're just under a little bit of cushion, if you know what I mean 8Y .
It's not a choice, it's a Nurgling.

Speaking of female forms, I was perusing CMON, and saw this. The figure itself is good, I thought the steed ould have used some more work. But I was interested in the freehand in the banner, which I thought was very well done.

You know what they say about great minds: they usually go crazy.

That is awesome. With just a little part swapping, it would make a totally cool Druchii Annointed as well *curses GW for making the Cult of Slaanesh illegal, it was not broken dammit*. I'm looking at the base, though, and wondering - is that a picture frame or some kind of other, more fancy stuff? It looks like a picture frame...
Aye, struck down by the photobucket. I'm wondering why they didn't edit the other 100+ nude female figurines posted in my account? Hmm...
Niterabbit, I believe that is two picture frames combined. It's a fairly simple procedure (like brain surgery, but without the brain and lots of super glue). Frames tend to fit together at those extreme outward-dimensional angles. It just takes a little sawing of the corners.

Ah yes, I know what you mean. I have perfect abs too, they are just hard to see. I think in olden days they had models, not models as we know them today but models who specifically worked out to make thier body look good or made thier body look a certain way but the face was ignored. Basically so a sculptor could use them as a body double for the huge statue of the ruler of olden days so that the ruler of olden days would look very impressive and not like a old fart.
