This model (of which I'm fascinated with it's hideousness) reminds me of a very bad dream when I was a child. It just has an eerie look to it. The fact that the head is so colorful and the body so bland creates, what I believed, was an intentional distraction, much like evolution goes about with the peacock feathering. In battle, this kind of monstrous distraction could be quite useful, especially with terror tactics. I really like it.

The Dirz models are awesome. Seeing them really, really makes me wish GW did better cavelry.

Also, the thing with the Ungor riding it has inspired me to try and make something cool for a chariot for my 'tale of...' army. Beastmen don't need technology when there's a huge mutated thing you can ride on instead!

That is true, the thing is very hideous. I think in that way it is well done. It depicts a horrible messed up chaos thing very well. Doing something so god-awful in it's looks is a very brave thing to do. Most models are made to be beautiful. Having that tail sticking up like that was also a bold move. People often see tails as the bit on a model they have to do to finish it. Rarely is the tail given a prominent role.

Yep. It works well as an abomination of some messed up daemonic experiment. The choice for black as the primary color on the body only makes the face even more horrific. And then there's that crazed smile of the mount. It's as though the thing isn't even concerned with how it looks.

Some of those are quite clearly Orks.

I like the first one a lot, though it looks more like a Warcraft Orc than a WH Orc, somehow.
Not sure about the one that looks like it was built out of a dragon ogre, then had it's skin turned into stone...

I figured that ork (or 'orc') academia wouldn't mind if I just lumped them all under the 'ork' spelling. What am I saying! Orc academia? Heh, bad jokes...gotta love them. They're orc enough for me :rofl
