Default Tale of Painters - Yes? No?

Yesterday I was bored and I wandered onto Warseer and saw this: "Tale of Painters". It is how it sounds, like the White Dwarf "Tale of X Gamers" and is basically you enrol and each month you paint a specified amount with the ultimate aim of having a fully painted army by the end.

A hefty task I know. I saw a great thread with a bloody good writeup backing it up. I have one thing to say, would you, as members of LO be interested in this?

My idea is that we plan for a 2000pt army, doing 200pts each month for a year. It would of course be open to both Fantasy and 40k players/armies; and I'm aware that 2000pts is sort of large for a 40k army but gives you plenty of options to play with.

This thread is just something to see how much interest such a thing would generate - ie how many would be interested. Any questions can be asked here or via PM or even email (see sig).

This is just an idea, not an actual plan.

I'd love to get involved, but due to me bing poor, I can't afford 200 points of IG every month

If you're doing it on a price thing, then that'd work better for some people 8Y plus it encourages people to do (more) direct ordering

Just my two pennies

I'll do it, but i guarantee I'll drop out or end up doing base colors and a wash on the troops. IG, that's what I'm talking about.

Okay, honestly, I'd do this- since I'm running an escalation league with my friends and have been painting about 250pts per month. But my question is: what's the benefit to joining? We mean, we can already post pics of our minis as we finish them, and it's really just forcing a set 'pace' on our painting.
I'm not a prize mongerer, I'm just wondering what the point is. 'Tale of 6 Gamers' was an escalation campaign. It's where the idea came from. What's the point of 'Tale of 300 LO Painters'?
Even with an objective, what's stopping us from posting pics of models we've already done and saying "look what i did this month"?

pressure helps people. if i think i need to have models assembled or painted for a casual game, i'll sit down for a few hours and assemble the models i need.

This sounds exactly like the motivation I need! I've been slowly (SLOOOWLY) building and painting a CSM army for the release of the new Codex, but have been going at a snail's pace. THe only problem for me is procuring a Digital Camera... as both parents seem to have lost theirs. Sign me up if it's happening!

Count me in. I'd actually get my chaos done then.
That and the fact I just stumbled onto some money...selling my homecoming ticket because my date fell through... so that's gonna be like an extra $30, and my paycheck comes in soon.

ouch, sucks about the date thing... id be in to, got nothing better to do...maybe it could have some kind of vote/reward thing...i.e. first one to finish gets a metaphorical cookie or something, or if you finish, the favorite ones get chosen out, and you become ruler of said month if your on top...just brainstorming here....Its easy to let a project log fall through, but if there is competion for a metaphorical cookie...
