So I have just finished my Nurgle DP and I was wondering if anyone has any suggesstions, comments or advice for future projects... all constructive feedback is appreciated. I have yet to master things like shading, highlights, and some of the other more advanced techniques, and I don't imagine that i'll be winning any Golden Deamons, but I think I do ok. My photography also leaves a bit be be desired... one thing at a time ![]() (PS this is my first time posting an image... hope I did it right.) edit: I removed the images here cause the second ones are much better |

That looks utterly disgusting... which it should. Because its Nurgle. I like how youve painted the rusted armour on the legs and the sword, and it all looks very gooey . Not too sure about the base though.. looks a bit... clean? Might want to try drybrushing the grass a brownish colour to make it look diseased or dead, just to fit in with the rest of the mini, and maybe splatter some blood or pus around the place for that real Nurgle feel :party2:. Raidoactivejack, the prince looks perty good. A couple of suggestions: 1- As a general note, the entire model could use a little more shading and highlighting. It looks a little flat, not much...just a tincy bit. Even if you're inexperienced with these techniques (as mentioned in your post), it's not too difficult to begin the process. After all, you've already demonstrated in this model that you know about shading and highlighting. I would take it one more step and add a little more shading to the putrid green sash and the skin-grafted arm band. The brown armor could use a little more highlighting or shading, though I'm not exactly sure which at the moment. You have to be careful doing too much highlighting on a Nurgle model, as it can sometimes detract from the overall disgust. Here's what I'd do: Go ahead and highlight any particular parts of the model that are bordering on being a little too flat. If you end up with a finished product that's too light, simply go over those desired areas with the appropriate wash or wash blend. I generally prefer diluting my washes for this purpose by at last a 1:3 ratio (wash/water). This allows you to brush multiple layers of the wash and creates more gradation in the color. Make sense so far? By the way, the bone parts look fine as they are. Skin: I'm envious of the quality of his skin. It's probably the best thing about the model. However, as a Nurgle player, I have a personal affinity for less 'pink' in my models' skin tone. It helps create the illusion of a sickly infested being with all manner of contagion and pestilence. Of course, skin isn't my strong suit, so I can't really comment on how to make it less pink, other than to say that you might try an extremely diluted brown/gray wash 1:5 (wash/water). Again, the more diluted the paint/wash, the more forgiving it tends to be, as it dries slower and more importantly, the steps between each wash are smaller, if that makes sense. Speaking of skin, it looks like some of the connecting points where the skin meets metal could use a slight touch up. Best of luck.

I was thinking of going over the skin with a light yellow wash to make it more jaundice-ey. As far as highlighting in the sash and the armor, I really want to, I just dont know how to start. And the shoulder is the one glaring botch-job of the model. Anyone have any suggestions on repairing it? I tried to make it blend together, but my greenstuff here looks bad and I am not sure if it should be a clean seperation or be shaded onto the arm. |

A yellow wash will work, but you might add just a hint of brown in order to darken the skin a little.

On the left shoulder where the armor joins the skin. The greenstuff is not smooth at all and whole joint just dosen't look right to me. Mabye I should run some streaks of the brown onto the bicep area to even out the transition.

![]() Ignoring the pustules, which are halved rubber grapes, you can see the ooze. It's the 'water effect' mixed with a tiny amount of snot green, something like 1 part paint to 100 parts 'water effect' or less. You can add more paint and make the slime opaque too. I was thinking that you could use this stuff in order to fill in those places where the model fits together. Hope this helps.

Woah, that rhino looks awesome :rofl. Hope you can get your DP to the standard you want, painting is like most things though, the more you do it and try out new stuff, the more used to it you'll get, and even though it may seem as if you still can't reach your target, you are actually improving constantly.

Pardon me, fellas, but it is a PREDATOR! Don't insult the beast by calling it a chiwawa . Side sponsons? Big hole in the middle fit for a turret? Enough already ![]() You people. EDIT: As Tekore said, the water effects might be over the top. However, they could work, providing you use the stuff sparingly.
