Kuffy, will you let us know who has who now that it is over? I am sure some of us wish to know if our painter is one of the delayed ones. Also, I sent my fig 6/30/08 but my recipient never responded to my PMs so I am not sure if it was received. Never sent anything overseas so not sure what to expect timewise.

Mine's nearly done as well. No pics, but I hope to have it done by tomorrow night.

@Aubec: From US to Europe it will take about a week and a half, two tops.

Apart from that my recipient is inactive all these time and hasn't let me know if he has gotten mine! Also I don't know if I will receive anything...

Well, I just received a PM that my exchange has arrived. I hope it meets the minimum standards for what I see on LO.

Hi All,

I'm afraid that i have to be marked as one of those who has yet to finish. I have to apologize sincerely. I am back on track, and will soon have completed the model (a Dark Angels compnay master). The model is pretty standard due to the fact that my bitz box isn't huge. i have tried to give him what may be a unique edge with the painting, but compared to the standards of some others taking part in this exchange, it isn't great.

Pics should follow if i can dig out the camera.

I have to say that I am a little disappointed with the overall commitment level for this... I think a project like this is a very interesting take that allows for others to get a first hand feel for another artists style, etc... Unfortunately for the big delay from the original date it feels like it may never fully complete and that future installments are likely to not happen...

Please take what I am about to say with a grain of salt. Please note that any reference to "you" is not singled out to an individual but rather anyone involved with the project... I am really not a angry old man but I have a few (brutally honest) thoughts on this:

I can understand an open contest, saying you will participate and then not having the time by the completion date... The only person you really fail is yourself. However when you sign up to take on a project like this - you are not only committing to yourself but also to everyone else involved in the project. When you don't meet the deadline or drop out you affect everyone involved - not just yourself. I really do find it hard to believe that time really was a factor. Sure we all get busy in our lives, emergencies come up, etc... but honestly unless you were physically removed from your hobby for 2 months - I can't believe that life got into the way of completing it... Personal choice made it so that it wasn't completed on time. For whatever reason you just didn't want to do it... I paint slow. Usually I paint really slow. I also find that there are several days if not weeks that might come where I just don't feel like painting... I was still able to make the commitment to meet the deadline (in plenty of time I might add). I would also like to point out that this was completely voluntary. You chose to sign up for the project because you wanted to take part... No arm twisting was done.

In the future if something like this took off again - it might be best to think about it like this: Would you treat your job like this? Would you push off a work project past its deadline because you didn't feel like it? Would you treat your family like this? Would you push off a family gathering simply because you didn't feel like it?

If in the future - this kind of thing would happen again - I would still participate. I really like the concept of the mini-exchange. It doesn't have to be cost prohibitive and to be honest I am not really soured from not having received one this time around... I would still have a go at it... However I personally would like to see a bit more commitment in any future endeavors. Having said that - those that we do know about look great and I still have hope that everyone will eventually complete their projects and not kill this idea completely...

Mean spirited comment: "For Shame! For Shame!"

Cheers,

-Mike

Having just moved (Finally) The new house is in a state. In fact, I've only just managed to get my PC set up a week after the move, so my work area should follow over the next couple of days.

Well, I agree with your points Slorak. I mailed mine by the deadline but have to apologize for not posting any pics as my camera went haywire and poor phone pics are not what anyone wants to see. I would gladly participate in another even though I did not receive a model and will make ever effort to get pics posted as expected.

I have to second this before I start.

I am an active user of 3 Forums, one of which I am an Admin, collector, painter (not so good as slorak or -t but..., work full hours and have a personal life and fiancee...

I enlisted to this project because I have already participated in another two in another forum. I finished everything I vowed to finish in time, always, and sent them properly and carefully. I enlisted in this project because I liked the Fog of War surrounding it, the participants never knew from whom they will receive and all... I finished in time, so much time was left that I could do another one, and sent the mini to it's owner... I posted pics and everything, received the comments from you guys, and I'm grateful for these, and I was waiting...

I haven't seen many of the participants lately. I don't understand why... You have vowed to do something for someone else as a part of a project, as a bond to someone else... You will always know that a mini made by you will be played on a table possibly long way from you... I am proud of this. I am checking my receiver frequently... I "stalk" him, in a way, through here. I see he is logging in and checking the threads... If he has received something from someone a word of thanks or even a bad critique would be nice... Why hasn't he appeared for so much time?

If something like this happens again I will be part of it. I like giving people a part of me, a mini that has received many hours of attention...

Yours truly

Harry

Seeing as I'm one of those people who Slorak is moaning at, let me try and redeem them...

While I am happy to admit that this mini is hugely late, I hope the recipient will be happy with it.
It was one of the options he expressed a preference for, and while it is inexcusabley late, I think that late is better than never.

Many people will have problems with a project such as this, as real life is never as simple as it should be. The two months set aside for this project were (for me), very busy, and for me to paint a mini in the few spare hours I had would have been a cop-out, in my opinion. I'd much prefer to do something well and late, than not at all.

My final quibble with the project is that I was paired up with someone who I did not know, and had not seen around much on LO. This made it hard for me to find a project they would like (although the requests posts made this much easier), and hard for me to stay motivated, even when I did have time to paint.
I think I would have preferred there to have been more of a structure for the pairing, but that is simply me moaning.

Anyway, enough carping.
I bring pictures!

And, also, these are pics of Aubec's mini, which seems to be an undead warrior priest!
