I basecoated my orks in chaos black, then did two coats of drybrushing on their flesh in orkhide mixxed with gloss varnish (makes it look like their sweating), then did a very very light touch drybrush of chaos black/gretchen green which was lightly mixxed over that.

It takes some time, but the end result ended up very pretty.

I'm drawn to ordering my tin of quickshade strong tone and various Vallejo paints to do my Orks up. But does anyone have any picture sources of 40K ork models painted using the army painter dipping method? I know the website has Fantasy Orks on it, but its just not the same.

I'll be most grateful!

Fun??? In Painting?!?! Lol painting is a major chore unless you are actually able to do it well!! Models tend to look horrible if they are simply base coated in a few colours and I ain't proficient in washing, shading, highlighting bla bla bla so I need a quick-fire way to get them looking reasonable for tabletop. If Quickshade can do that for me, I'll take it up any day!!

It doesn't have to be, ypu don't even have to be good. Just enjoy it. The more you paint, and more effort you put into the it, the better the results you get in return. Everyone starts off as a bad painter, it is through patience and effort that they improve. That said, I'm not trying to knock anyone for using quick methods such as dipping - if it works for you then fair enough. Just try to bear in mind that if you don't try your skills will never develop. =)

Compared to the quality that a mate of mine can do, I'll survive with been a dipper! I don't have the free time to waste developing painting skillz. As long as I can basecoat a model well enough that will do me and even that right now with my Orks is taking time to master. Right now the skin looks great, but the cobra leather Vallejo paint seems a bit dodgy in comparison to it no matter how much I shake it up. Ah well I've yet to try out the quickshade on a fully basecoated model so we shall see!

Considering I aint got the time nor skill to sit there for hours painting every single minute detail on every piece of weapon or body armour I'll settle for it.

Finished one ork fully last night to see how it would look. Chainmail silver for gun, green goblin for skin, leather brown for the flak armour all over, red eyes, white teeth and bronze for hand to hand weapon. Finished with a dip in the quickshade and all in all I was impressed by how much the dipping helps to create a model that still looks nice despite a 2nd rate painter! P I could improve it by painting non leather bits in clan colours like red for example and not dipping it for so long next time, but for now I was still happy with the 1st ork result.

its daunting to have to do this for about another 100+ orks, but boy will the green tide look nice!
