Default SoB test model + squad WIP

My goal for the weekend was to assemble a 10-women SoB squad and fix their bases. This I completed and I have even done some of the basecoating on the entire squad. Except on one model, which is almost fully painted.

So, pics! Not the best ones, but they'll do. The red are not as flat as it is in the pics, but eh, can't be bothered to take new ones. And the grey on the base does not show uo too well on the pics either.

Sister test model

The test model is almost 100% completed, but I need some advice on some of the parts left to do, specificly the black parts (bolter casing, small skull below her neck and the Eccleseriarch-symbol on her loin cloth).

I am unsure how to paint these. I am thinking about painting these parts in steel. So that's one complete steel bolter, the small skull in steel colour and the symbol in steel, except the tiny skull on the symbol which will be in gold. What do you think?

Also, do you think I should keep the face plate in the same brass/gold-ish colour like teh rest of the armour?

I like your steel idea, and since it's a test model if it doesn't work out in real life its ok.

Huhu,

Looks promising sofar but it seems like your golden paint is a little bit too thick, a couple of thin layers would look a lot smoother
The bolter itself I'd keep black, add some highlights and everything and it'll be just fine

Can't wait to see the rest of the Squad

Nah, it is the reflective glaze from my lamp which screws with the look of the armour. Thick, it is not.

Thanks for the comments, guys.

I've been painting a shed load of sisters recently, and I think you should keep it simple.

If you've been using steel in other places, continue with the steel. It helps unify the model and it's easier on the painting.

Maybe you could push the highlights a little bit more and/or some deeper darker shading?

The robe would be perfect, blood red highlights combinedwith the new washes. Simple and easy.

Great work so far.

Yeah I know about the robes, but as my deer friend Jon Quixote (yeah, I CAN pronounce that! ) pointed out - I'm keeping it simple. Besides, I like the dark and matt red now since it gives it a bit dark and gothic feel I think. When I paint my characters you can bet on me putting a lot more time in the highlighting/shading department.

Also, she's finished!

Great scheme!!!!! Is it based off the one in the back of the codex? I've always wanted to do that all-gold one.

Nice.

A whole Squad like that will look really nice.

I look forward to some group pics.
