Too BLUE?!?! No such thing. I refuse to believe it! That'll teach me to try and lever in a theme of my own out of context. If you see the whole army en masse, you'd understand. I also know what you mean about the other stuff, it was mostly due to hurrying to get it done before I went to Spain on my jollies, which was lovely. So, next time, perhaps Marble, NMM and OSL? Or another mini in the bin.

And thanks, it's no trouble. I'm glad for the turn out. 15 entries?! Blimey.

I like the blue! Haha, but the favorite part of the model, to me, is your use of NMM. It's subtle, but very nice

Thanks for the comments -t. Very comprehensive on everyones minis.

Towards mine, did you mean the green is lacking contrast? There isn't any black on the mini. That was actually the whole point, trying to do a model without using my regular pallet.

I agree with you, the white didn't turn out as well as I would have hoped. I was using a pot of paint that was almost out, and I think the paint mixture is getting bad in it...

That said, I voted for Davids Orgre, as the combination of skin and rusted metal makes for an amazingly painted mini.

Thanks, -T, I appreciate the frankness.
To be honest, I've never, ever painted a space marine before. This guy is sorta a fluke in that he came with my Assault Brood. It was rather interesting, trying to figure out how to paint him....I sure didn't want to go with the standard Smurf Blue, especially since if I ever do a space marine chapter, it'll be of my own design. Regardless, thank you for the advice and comments; I need all the help I can get, and I know very little about space marines!

Guess I do mean green, sorry!
That'll teach me for working without any lights on except the laptop...

Quite a nice turn out for this unofficial painting contest. Some really impressive entries too.

Thanks for the review -T, I thought I'd give a short response.
The base and metallics I do agree with, I should have put a lot more into them, the base was just a quick paint and wash job. The metallics (specifically the sword) are somewhat lacking too, but could almost be explained as "the best a poor knight can expect"...but that's just a cop out. I've never been good with metallics, and something I need to work on.

As for the shield, there was some reasoning behind the clean, stark white, with the unblemished red cross. As Sir Justin's sole symbol of his participation in the Crusades, he strives to maintain it in perfect condition.

If you take notice that there was no theme and everyone painted what they wanted the level is very high...

I regret for not taking part in it... I will hold my horses until the next one, hopefully!

Well done everyone...

Well I took my sweet time deciding, but my vote goes to
Helbrecht – Abaddon. I think this guy is really well painted and I just really like it.
So well done.

I can’t wait till the next one, bring it on……………
