Default Jon Q's Un-official LO Painting Contest Number 2.

Basing, Bloodied & Beaten

So it has been almost a week since the voting for the last competition closed and two weeks since paint pots and paint brushes were put down.

This competition is open to anyone of any skill. It is designed so that people can get positive feedback from their peers in a direct way from any and all.

Congratulations to Minus T & DavidVC04 for winning the open competition.

The theme of this contest is ‘Basing, Bloodied & Beaten’.

This is because the two winners from the last round got to choose the theme.

We're looking for battle damage, rust, wounds and/or blood splattered liberally about with this theme, ladies and fellas, so don't skimp on it!

This is a multi-faceted combination theme. All aspects will be taken into account.

Closing date; 23:59 (GMT) 6th October 2008

Contest rules.

People entering have one month in which to design, build and paint a single based model to the theme set. Members will be expected to post their pictures which will then be placed into a thread for voting. It is done so that people can improve their skills, and try out things. And purely for fun, there is no prize or anything, just the fun of it

1.) Models from any manufacturer are allowed, as are scratch built models.

2.) There is one month to each project.

3.) One base (any size) per entry... Multiple models permanently fixed to the single base are allowed. No armies on display boards though.

4.) Models painted within the time frame are looked upon favourably. (It is of course impossible for us to check). Please use this competition to come up with a new idea.

5.) Pictures can be no wider than 700 pixels (as per the normal LO rules).

6.) Maximum of two pictures can be posted. Single pictures of multiple views (montages) are allowed.

7.) The organisers of the competition have the right to refuse entry to any applicant if they feel it doesn't meet the criteria

8.) Voting. It is considered un-sportsmanlike to vote for yourself. You are voting on what you think is the most original, unique, clever conversion with the most groundbreaking painting techniques.

******

So just post your completed entries here, and if you want you can post WIPs along the way.

Good luck to one and all, and if you don't finish your model in time, please do still post your final pic as I'm sure we would all be interested in seeing it.

Hopefully, with such grand turnout from the last round, there should be some wonderful entries to look forward to this time.

Those are some good themes, I might give this one a go (on top of ToP, 'Ard Boyz, and the looming threat of incoming Dark Elves)...

Cool! I'll try my best to get my entry in on time this time around . Is it okay if we only go for one of the themes? 'cause I am not a baser by any stretch...

Well, according to Jon's lovely title, you certainly could pay attention to only one theme, but you will be 'judged' on all of them...

I think I know what I'm gonna paint for this, but I might fave a few options.
Basing could be trickier than weathering, but I'm up for it!

Well, I'm not good at either basing or weathering so this one will be a real stretch for me. I already know what model I'm working on, Skrag the Slaughterer. His three gnoblars got a little bit of attention today.

Still, it'll be hard to finish on time. I have to touch up up 14 Wardancers and 4 heroes before I take my Wood Elves army to the Wasteland Wars GT at the end of this month.

Jon Quixote, when does the contest start? Are you allowing some time before you begin the contest, to give people time to sign up?

I know I won't win but why not try. Time to finish up that Marauder conversion and base for painting.

There is no sign up as such.

Just post your finished entries here.

The contest started last night and closes on the end of 6th of next month.

Giving you all one month and a couple of hours to get it done. If you didn't see this contest in time, you can be rest assured that I will try to post a new one on around the 18th of October, so look out for it.

As a side effect, frequent users of LO get the greatest time for their entries (and all the gossip, with the low-down on all things good and great), and infrequent users are punished with the Mighty Hammer of Deadlines.

So, I don't need to know that you are planning anything (although it is always nice to know), just as long as you post here with the picture of your model that you want entered (preferably aready with the [img] brackets so that I don't have to do any re-sizing/cropping myself) and then I will compile all the entrries for the poll like last time.

And like minus t says, you can concentrate on one aspect of the theme but the voting will be on all aspects.
Just try your best, try to push yourself to do better than you have before, and most of all, have fun.

PS. Thanks to the mod for sticky-ing this.

This one screams 'Khorne Berzerker' - I'd enter if I didn't have other things to be doing, but I look forward to seeing loads of bloodied and beaten minis - good luck to all who enter.
