Ok, so I didn't prime the brood of termagaunts before I sprayed on the camo-green paint. I figured the spray would come on nice and even just like the primer does. Well, due to either the fact that I used no primer before hand, the spray wasn't shaken up enough, or I live out in the country where there is a lot of dust and debris that can be blown onto the models, the paint came out with a slight texture to it on the miniatures rather than a smooth finish. I'm about to go and try priming a brood of Genestealers, but was wondering if anyone else has similar problems and knows the cause.

Griff: "I'd just like everyone to know: that I suck."
    Church: "And?"
Griff: "And that I'm a girl..."
    Church: "What else?"
Griff: "And I like ribbons in my hair, and I want to kiss all the boys."
Sarge: "This has to be the best surrender of all time."

In my opinoin, Citadel dosen't make that great of Primers or Spray paints. They either have a rough coat or run.

That's happened to me, too, with and without primer. Fortunately, you're painting 'nids, so they'll actually look pretty cool with a texture. The best thing to do, though, is try rubbing the mini with a toothbrush, (I've bought a couple for this purpose). If you do it after the mini is dry, some of the little grains of crap come off.

this has happened to me and what might be the problem is the atmosphere. if you use the citidel paints and its to ho cold or humid it can cause this problem. i think clarkdobbs is right but if you did want to remove it a very strong bleach called tire white or something. you can get it at wal-mart. if you do use it remember to wear really strong rubber gloves.

wait, if it's stripping you want to do, just use simplegreen, or failing that, isopropanol or break fluid. The first one doesn't require gloves, and even the second two are safer than bleach. But if you're using the dipping technique, (which is possible) then trust me, the grit doesn't look too bad on the mini. Use one and take a look.

Thanks, I'll paint one of those puppies up tonight and see what it looks like. It doesn't look too bad, unless you get really close; then it's just kinda odd. When I primed up the 'stealers though, they came out smooth. So.... *shrug*. I mean it was the same temperature/atmosphere and everything. Oh well

The spray can says on the side some place to turn it up side down and spray till the spray is clear and nothing comes out but air. This is to remove the "texture" (old paint stuck in the spray mechanism thingy) from the spray thingy. Happened to my dark eldar ravager ( I was extreamly *****ed off). So before you spray always clear out the spray hole (that sounds bad).

I have had the same problem occur withm ine as well. There are 2 reasons for it:

    1) You didn't spray a little paint out first before applying it to your minis., so the paint initially came out clumpy

    2) You didn't apply enough paint. A lot of the clumping has to do with ionization of small particles on the mini. A thicker coat eliminates the problem.

Aww monkey balls. So you're saying I have to waste precious money by spraying the paint and clearing the nozzle before actually spraying the paint out to paint my minis... El poop-o. lol.

    Thanks for all the advice
