Default Sister's Immolator WIP

So this is my first posting here in the painting section. I am a little nervous, as there is some really outstanding work showcased in here.

I would like some feedback on this. I wanted something that looked good on the table and that is easy to paint, as I have 10 of these to do. I also realize that not everything is painted just yet. This is my test model before getting really into it.

Any suggestions on coloring or layout is welcome. Thanks for looking.

the black especially needs highlights to break up the solid black

otherwise it looks good, very clean. I tend to paint the same way because I'm not a fan of weathering. I like to assume they repaint everything right before a battle.

I am sort of a painting newbie.

Can I get some more explanation of this?

by highlights he is referring to picking out the raised edges that would catch the light, and lightening up the color to reflect that..

I call it edging.. This can be done in numerous ways.. One way is to pick a light source you own and position it about 3-4 feet away, and then only line those edges that the light hits..

A second way is to simply edge every corner you see.

This is how I did it.

One quick way of hardedging vehicles that works well with black is to use colored pencils. It is not as sloppy as paint can be yeilds great results...I learned that trick from a scale modeler friend of mine.

Thanks for the tip.

Hi Fizzics

The tank is painted very well. Very neat and crisp. Like the others said, it could do with some highlighting though. Have you looked into the citidel washes? They are very good for making details stand out well, and are very easy to use.

i really like how you've painted this, its wanting me to go out and paint my own !!

There's only a couple of things I would say could be done, #1 the colours seema little flat, but by going around highlighting every edge on it will help it stand out abit aswell as giving it the look as though its 3d, as others have said go around and just paint the edges of the tank with a lighter colour than the base, so for the black, use a grey, for the red, just mix red with a little bit of white, and for the blue do the same as for red but with blue and white. #2 this is more personnal preference then anything else, the gold bits and weapons look a little too clean, invest in a black wash and just cover the areas in it, when its dry on the more flat areas go over the centre with the base colour again, and then for final highlights mix gold with a little bit of mithril silver, and use that mix on the edges, as though the sun is gleaming off it.
