I have a 1,500 pt Tau list that I will be painting soon and I would just like to know what color would be good for shading a dark grey (for the fatigues) and what color is good for highlighting black (the armor)? Thanks.

well for the grey shading i would simply add black to the grey until it looks right for shading , and for the black armour on the tanks , use a bit of darkened down grey for the highlights and for the EXTREME highlights a lighter grey .

For grey fatigues you could go for a Ghostly grey highlight (or simply wash over the grey fatigues w. a mix of chaos black + water, thus darkening the grey and then highlighting w. codex grey.)

For black armor I'd use either codex grey (lazy)
    Or mix :
    - 2 parts codex grey
    w.
    - 2 parts chaos black

    and then shade w. that.

Good luck...and remember show us pictures when you're done!

highlight black with grey... and/or with a midnight blue color...

I only use 75% GW paints cause I think they're colors suck for sertain things... such as this. I also don't like mixing cause you'll end up needing the color you mixed later and it's hard to make an exact match
