At walmart, they have this brand of paint called Apple Barrel colors. i bought some the other day and noticed it works just as good as GW paints. Also, apple barrel paints, for a 2 ounce bottle, costs only 44 cents each. this is better than buying Gw paints for 2.50 each, and you only get 12 ML (about .4 oz). also GW makes only 74 or so different colors, whereas apple barrel makes over 100, and it lasts alot longer than GW. It's just my opinion, but dont take my word for it.

As stated above they won't thin well. The big difference in craft paint is that it has larger grain pigment than model paint. They also use chalk as an additive which will give you a "chalky" look if thinned too much. Craft paints work great for large scale projects such as terrain. When comparing price also consider how much paint you will actually be using. Most model sized paint bottles are more than enough to last through several dozens of miniatures if not even more. One way to conserve paint use is by getting paint bottles that have the dropper tops and only mix up what you will be needed at the time. Vallejo paints are some of the best model paints out there right now - though I have heard several good things about the new paintline from reaper. Cheers, -Mike

There are these paints here in australia where you get the paint number of the games workshop ones and you match it with the numberrs on this tins. they are like 30 cents for 30 mls of gamesworkshop colour paint that works really well and saves you heaps.
