Default Painting Brass

Can anyone give me some tips on how to paint brass I was going to do the trip on my khorne champion in brass but I have no clue on how to paint it I have brazen brass but I'm thinking it will come out to flat

I would start with a darker brown base coat. You can also apply some ink washes to the brass to "tint" it. Colors I would suggest would be brown or purple ink (for a darker look), or even an orange ink to brighten it up a bit. You may also want to apply a bit of gold to the raised areas and edges for further definition.

So base coat brown ( I'm assuming scortched earth or beastial brown)
then brass
washing with brown, purple or orange (for lighter tint) ink
then gold on the edges for highlights?

Yes that would be one way of doing it. I would recommend watering down the inks and applying several coats until you get a result you like. Otherwise the straight ink may be too bold for what you want and ruin your efforts.

Now would I put a base coat of tinz bitz over the brown base or no?

You don't need to. If you want to add a dark metallic you could but the brown should be good enough.
