I was wondering if i should start looking at non citadel paints. I just used citadel because i got some for cheap from my brother and bought others for sake of uniformity, but the i'm starting to understand the gripes people have with the GW pots. so a) should i bother? and b) what brand? vellejo is popular but i don't know what to do with the eye dropper deal. some people also seem to love rackham paints which are also supplied at my local store, and those do come in "pots" as well. |

Vallejo paints are great. The eyedropper is better than GW paints because you get a nice amount onto your pallet before you paint it on to your mini. PLEASE tell me that you don't paint your minis directly from the pot! ALWAYS use a pallet to properly water-down your paints before applying them to your minis. GW paints are fine in my opinion. But if you are looking for something good then use Vallejo or Reaper. |

When i started to use Vallejo my painting dramatically improved. Not only that, but its cheaper than GW paints and you get more in each pot. The dropper is great as it minimizes waste, and its available in heaps of hobby stores. I strongly recommend Vallejo paints, i haven't used Reaper yet, but i believe they are also good. It is also important to note that the GW foundation paints are great, and i personally feel that the silver metallics from GW have a pretty good pigment count, so they are still great to use.
