Now, I've been hearing a lot of gamecube having "immature" games. At the mo, the current definition of a mature game seems to be one with a lot of killing, a lack of cute fluffy rabbits and realistic graphics. I was under the impression that maturity was aspects such as responsibilty, not acting silly and a responsibility towards the impressionnable. Now under this definition, giving violent games to people hardly seems right.
So are these cries of immaturity (ie mario jumping around in brightly coloured areas) are these bloodthirsty people, misguided people or just someone who refuses to see miyatomos ingenuity and like to whinge?
is gamecube actually immature?
Apathy is the greatest enemy of all.
The Gamecube is probably the most "mature" system since the Dreamcast. It's players and supporters are some of the most dedicated gamers ever. Maturity is not measured by ESRB ratings, but by experience and quality.
Take a look at the Wind Waker. You have cartoon-style graphics on the outside (extremely well done, I might add,) and some serious, mature gameplay beneath.
Nintendo's first and second party developers are the most experienced game creaters in the world. Very few people outside of Nintendo come close to the amount of experience Nintendo's first-hand developers have.
People will try to use the arguement that the GC's smaller amount of "M" rated games makes the system itself "immature." People say that since the GC has less violent games, it is less mature. How does violence lead to maturity?
Overall, a truly mature gamer will play games because they are good, and not strictly for violence. Maturity truly comes from experience, and Nintendo has the most, and therefore makes the best games around.

I agree, it should be the game and gameplay that determine 'maturity' not the pure amount of gore and violence. Experienced in creating games=mature game

'ey! Mario is NOT immature,Mario is stylish and classy on a completely different level...yeah..sure..stylish and classy... <_<. And I'd take Super Smash Brothers over some pointless Unreal wannabe splatter-fest anyday..
I have to agree with everyone who has already posted. I am not worried about the impression that Nintendo produces "immature games and consules". What i am worried about is the continued lack of third party support which Nintendo gathers for its consules.
With the recent announcement that Silicon Knights (Eternal Darkness, which by the way is a very scary game) will no longer be a Nintendo only games developer it seems to me that the good auld GC is going the same way as the N64.
Oh dear i think that i fall at the other end of the spectrum after all the only reason that i bought a game cube was for the remake of Resident Evil, Resident Evil Zero and for the upcoming Resident Evil 4. If it wasn't for the fact that they are game cube exclusive then i would not have bought the machine.
i agree completely liek, i wasn't saying gamecube is immature, just that I've been hearing some moans.
Apathy is the greatest enemy of all.
the cube is for people who put gameplay before image, anyone who won't play super monkey ball because its not "mature" enough doesn't deserve to experience the wonder that is. they can stick to their poorly designed gorefest games

Hear Hear eadipus, if people focus more on graphical style than actual gameplay they are welcome to their PS2's and Xbox's.
