Welcome to Librarium Online!
Okay, here's another poll for all to participate in.
Many people are contreversial over this topic as these two hardcore sci-fi RTS's battle it out for the top spot.
Some would say DoW for incredible Graphics and sweet combat styles, others would say starcraft for the grueling, fast paced, hard hitting. and yes very bloody battles of Starcraft. Either way it's your choice, Some might say Starcraft for the Pro's while still others may say that DoW represents the RTS of the future and Starcraft doesn't have a Prayer.
Personally, I find Starcraft much more challenging and prefer the 200 single units to 40 "squads and with numbers like that you got to have some skill with the mouse, plus some starcraft matches can be so difficult that they last for more than 4 hours or so harsh that they last for a mere 2 minutes. DoW seems like a slower wannabe to starcraft.
But the all-time of this site, is up to you!
Qui est Mortis? Lol, the rep... neggatized for something... lol that nobody payed attention too... Lol Goodbye all, BTW This is permanent goodbye so save some bandwidth mods delete this account :D  :D  :D
Well coming from a starcraft fanatic, DoW is a very weak RTS. I constantly find my APM wasted with not enough to do even late-game in DoW.
Besides, how many people watch DoW on TV?
I personally think they're evenly matched, true starcraft probably has more options but dawn of war graphics and camera positions really make it good. Besides you're asking this on a warhammer forum what do you think most people are going to choose?
A billion chinese can't be wrong - eat rice.
I've allways had a soft spot for starcraft but (as Xuy said) this poll is not going to have a good fair outcome since its placed on a Dawn Of War forum infact it would probably have the opposite outcome on a starcraft forum!
I agree. If this poll was posted on Gamefaqs, then I think it'd be more fairly matched.
BTW, Starcraft pwnz Dawn of War every day of the week, and then twice on Sunday.
I prefer Starcraft, since it works on almost any system specifications and even a really crappy PC will play the game no problem. DoW needs much higher specs.
Both games were revolutionary in some terms, but in my own feeling Starcraft had more impact on the RTS market as a whole.
In the end, SC is just a plain classic. The game is already 8 years old, yet there is still market for re-releases and people continue to play through BN (altough indeed I feel that it's not as populated as it once were). DoW his barely one year old, and whether it will stand the test of time or be vanquished by newer, "better" games yet remains to be seen.
And, altough I like Starcraft more, I feel that DoW is not far behind.
Well Starcraft is still the most popular RTS game, if not overall game in the world. The pro-gaming scene overseas is unfathomable here in America. Post the same question over at wgtour, pgtour, wcg, or even fansites like teamliquid, and you'll get hilarious replies.
Overall, DoW moves wayyyy to slow for my personal tastes. Starcraft is just balanaced to the point where it becomes art.
Sorry but this is a lie. World records state that the five most popular games (in order)Originally Posted by Fat_Badger

therefore your stat is wrong It is not the most popular R.T.S. having been beaten by Red Alert (although it was close) sorry i don't mean to be rude but i think that threads should only contain correct information
I think both games are evenly matched, although Dawn of War is currently going through some hard times right now. Starcraft is a classic, it's one of those games I practically grew up on, and an excellent one with lots of players to boot, and gave me plenty of laughs over the years (admit it, you've played a suicide scourge/infested rusher at least once). Then there's Dawn of War, which has a different style of play, better graphics, and is based on one of the coolest tabletop games of all time.
I enjoy both games at various times, but I am an impatient person at times and before I began to acquire some skill at the game, there were lots of guys at the LAN Cafe where I played who would pwn me within the first 3-4 minutes of gameplay and I would be stuck waiting for another 40 or more minutes before the next game started. With Dawn of War, the games tend to be over in around 20 minutes and I at least am able to fight to the end in the way I never could in Starcraft. I like the squad-based system and the use of requisition over the peasant economy. What I don't like is the fact that Winter Assault has erased the importance of morale altogether as the Imperial Guard have so many ways to avoid Morale damage. First it was just the Avatar and now this...
Yes, they are evenly matched.
You got the classic Starcraft, with it's awsomely simple Mission editor, good all round game play ect ect.
But DoW has awsome graphics and such.
But there is a dark side to DoW IMO, the Squad based combat effectively ruins scouting, you can't just send a squad out to recon the area anymore, too expensive, too long and it takes away from your 'defence' force and yoiu need as people always seem to know where YOU are, but not the other way around.
Plus IMO DoW has a worse Power Gamer Problem IMO.
