Sorry if Spore has been discussed before, I did a quick search and it came up with zilch.
Gameplay Movie (Warning! 35 minutes long)
Quite possibly the best game EVER! If you are going to the watch the video, watch it before you read this. You get a better sense of how the game is played.
Last chance to watch it before Spoilers
You start as a single celled organism. From this 2D Pacman style game you can upgrade yourself, evolving your creature to have spikes, different fin types, different ways of eating.
Then you become a mammal. You can customise the skeleton, legs, head, beak, tail, arms, everything!
The computer then analyses the skeleton structure, legs etc and then makes the creature walk, eat, dance.
Your creature then becomes a tribe of creatures. You can buy them hut upgrades, buy them tools/weapons.
Your tribe then becomes a city! All buildings and vehicles that you can make are FULLY customisable. This game has limitless possiblities.
Once you have conquered your home planet, you can then build a spaceship. This can travel arround your solar system and colonise other planets. Using terraforming to make a planet liveable. For example making volcanoes on a moon will release gas and thereby form an atmosphere.
Once you have a strong set of Colonies and home planet. You then move onto the GALAXY! You can travel between solar systems, eventually having a race collonise the whole place.
The races on other planets arn't randomly generated either. Players load their planets onto the internet and these planets appear in your galaxy. This isn't a direct MMORPG, other races are merely taken from other players then run on your system by the computer, acting according to the personality sliders the player sets.
This will be the hugest, most engrossing, fully customisable game ever!
Maybe I'm just a bit excited about it, but it looks truely awesome.
Really no offense, but thats some pretty old video footage. I saw it last year.
Well it must be new to some. I hadn't seen it for one and I found no threads at all on 'Spore' with the search function.
Oh yeh, i seen this a few months ago, its really amasing in the amount of detail they show you , I really cant wait till its out to buy the best bit in trailer is when he destorys the world with the mega death ray thats what happens when you can tolarate folk! .
Also it doesnt matter if some seen it last year, its still a great video to watch also i found a better copy of it on google video better res to.
I also saw that video a few months ago, but it doesnt make it any less interesting. Spore is the biggest game , aside from the DOW expansion, that i cant wait to get my hands on. Shame its still so far away.! I feel that Spore may revolutionize gaming as we know it. Or not... i could be wrong.
Yes I'm really looking forward for this game to come out. So much so that I've had a link to that video in my sig for the past few months, I only changed it out a few days ago.
The video footage is about a year old: it is a recording of Will Wright's presentation at last year's E3. At the time he said that the game had about 18 month untill release. So assuming everything's on schedual, that'll be this fall, a few month down the road. I think the movie was released to google video a few months ago to build hype for it before this years E3.
There are no new screenshots, noting new since that video presentation last year, but guessing from the pushing out of the video, and the website is still up, that and the developer's delight in wowing people, I expect that this E3 is going to be where he slams us with the near finished product, and there'll be a lot more to see. I got a friend who's going to E3, he's going to check it out for me. Between that and reading press releases I hope to find out more then (it's next month.)
Votewar MKV 2nd place. . .
Back from internet limbo, and glad to be here.
