    DOW:DC rating

    I been going to sites like gamespy and gamestop and I have been reading the reviews and I myself have been quite disappointed on what they have to say. So I decided to start a rating vote chart thingy to decide once and for all if Dark Crusade was a god game or not.

    I believed it was a bit of a disappointment for multiple reasons.
    1. it lost what I most truly loved about DOW and that was the amount of customizing you could do to your troops by the weapons you gave them.
    2. the limiting on troops expecially the Storm Troopers which by doing this made the IG even weaker not as balanced as I hoped.
    3. Intro movie was a big upset. I mean it is not as good as the original.
    4. Did not really fix many bugs
    5. long campgain which is fun at first but does get very tirering after a while
    6. Limited turrets which I love to build to defend my economy.

    I did believe what they did with the campgain was brillent though and I will give them credit for strengthening a weak singleplayer mode. So what do you guy/gals give DOWC from a 1 out of 10?

    i liked it and the limited turret thing was good (stop those impossible to breach bases) cept for tau who dont get pissing any

    i liked the game gave it a nine (i think)

    I agree entirely about the IG being nerfed even more. I don't understand the cap on Stormtroopers and Ogryns at all. I also think the general squad cap for IG should be higher, or their basic men should take up less slots.

    Heavy weapon squads are too overpriced and too much of a strain on the already tight infantry cap. they should be cheaper, auto-entrencthing, and only take up one slot. Also, why do leman russ tanks take up 5 slots, FIVE!!! thats ridiculous IMO, its enough having a cap of two on the "most common tank in the imperium", but they also made it take more slots than a baneblade.

    All in all i think its a good game, so a solid 8 out of ten :yes:

    6 because boring cant do other play styles to win.
    Tau"fireline with hammer heads" "kroot rush"
    Chaos" zerg with stealthed chaos units and Blood thirster"
    and the list goes on.
    i like the game but it gets boring after someone doing the same moves over and over and over to the point where you just want to play offline

    There are a few issues that need sorting out (krootox and the necron res cap to name a few) but it has far more balance than WA.

    Also the tech tree changes meant its much easier to get far more builds in play than was previously possible.

    This games gets a six from me. While it boasts beautiful graphics and has that "Wow! Look, it's my 40K army on my computer" factor, there are some major balancing issues that need adjusting, predominately in the IG and Necron armies. Also while the campaign is a great concept, it does tend to get boring after a while, and I find little motivation to go back and complete the campaign with the other five armies I haven't finished it with. Also, is it just me, or do other people sometimes get garbled 'computer sounds' for speach when they click on units while there is a lot going on during a battle? Maybe my sound card just sucks, but none of my other games have this problem, and I've experienced it since the original DoW.

    In a hierarchy of best RTSs out there, I'd say StarCraft and SC:BW are 1, WarCraftIII and WCIII:FT are 2, Command and Conquer series are 3 and DoW is 4.

    I agree with Mobius' assessment. However I think DoW could top the C&C series if THQ paid the game more attention. If they put a little effort into balance fixes and repairing glitches within a reasonable time frame, (the commisar bug from WA was around for like 5 months...), the game could be much better. Can't hold a candle to Starcraft though, hehe.

    Dude! You hit it on the head. I downloaded a patch the other day, and I was thinking 'Good, maybe they nerfed the Necrons some so it isn't so easy', and what do I get? Subtitles during the intro and campaign fortress scenarios. whoo....hoo.

    By the way, what the heck was the Commasar bug? I never noticed it.

    I think my main criticism of DC is that the necrons are not very balanced at all. IG have a terrible time fighting them off, particularly in the early game.

    Other than that, I like it. The changes to IG stopped kasrkin spam, and the unit cap that frees up allows you more guys and you're able to crowbar in a few heavy weapons (Expensive, yes. Good, though) on top.

    I was never keen on russes, so hellhounds and chimera spam (backed by a baneblade) still rock.

    The campaign could do with a few tweaks, but on par it's a good game - 8/10.

    It's also held my interest a lot longer than the unfortunate Mark of Chaos. Pretty game, but lacking in the strategy front.
