I was wondering if anyone's played FEAR yet?
I've tried it very recently and I'm incredibly impressed with it.
Normally, when i play an FPS i kind of go into strafe shotgun jumping monkey chump mode.
But with this game, I've found for the first time I've had to think when fighting the enemies.
It's the first time I've got the thrill of the hunt playing a FPS. Enemies who'll grenade you, flank you and work in tandem with no mercy.
Yet, if you use your brain, then you can defeat them without taking any damage.
I'm really impressed with it, and if anyone gets a chance to look at it, I recommend it.
It's like Silent hill in a FPS
Looks to be a very interesting game, from the advertisements I've seen of it. Plus the name hooked me. First Encounter Assault Recon. That simply beckons to be something riveting.
What platforms is it out for?
Well, I have it as PC at the moment. Although I'm sure there do it for the X station 3 and the play box 6000 and stuff.
I prefer PC for stuff like this though, I dunno why. Save consoles for streetfighter says me.
I'm still battling through it, and stilll enjoying it very very much
I must confess I haven't tried multi player yet though
it is a amzing game. It is so creepy, and the best part is i have it at work and can play on a big screen tv ! its so awesome, you have to get it.....
"This sure ain't no pansy Eldar Armor, Son"
185th Cadian Armored Div.
"One Shot, One Kill"
Western Border Patrol of Athel Loren
Yep, FEAR is without doubt one of the best FPS games to come out in a long long while.
The atmosphere is incredibly creepy, the guns are cool and the enemies can be freakishly intelligent. All in all it's a damn good game (though I could have done without some of the endless crawling through ducts and passages of buildings).
"You challenge me knowing that I am Xiahou Dun!?"
I tried the FEAR mp and it seemed a bit bland, but from what you describe it sounds like the single player is pretty cool so I might get it.
I JUST got the game today, and have blasted through the first 3 levels in my basement (I rent it.. Not my parents basement =P) with all the lights off... I nearly leaped out of my chair in the first level when you finally find the general you are tracking.
In short, it's an amazing game. And at least worth a look if your an FPS/Horror fan.

Well done Ghandi!
I still haven't tried it online, i've been so impressed with the one player mode. It's girtty and intesne, and it doesn't let up even at all.
Having completed it... i went straight out and bought the expansion pack, but I'm yet to try it.
Right, on to flying kicking more replicants for me!
I also just got it and I am extremely impressed. To be honest, FPS/Horror games aren't really my style, but I am really enjoying this game. I love the AI and the radio chatter which is awesome. The way they throw grenades at you is also awesome.
That girl is also cool, the first time you see her I went all commando firing like a commando before I realized I wasn't hurting her and I ran like a headless chicken. Then the room filled with blood vision......
I need to shut up now, but I must say I love 42" HDTV...........
Also Slow Mo is cool.*Gets dragged away*
Last thing, does it happen in one of the first missions, you jump into a small passage and the whole radar flashing thing happens, then arms start like crawling at you fro down the passage? I saw that but I paused it, and when I came back it was gone!
