Welcome to Librarium Online!
I just got DoW (I don't know if this has anything to do with it but it's a "Gamer's Choice" edition which was cheap), and the game itself runs fine, but The sound is really glitchy. At regular intervals it becomes garbled, and is often just reduced to a static buzz. I tried reducing the hardware acceleration on my DirectX 9.0c like the troubleshooting file told me to but it didn't work. My sound card is a Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS. Help or advice will be much appreciated!
On my computer (nothing too fancy) it runs fine, but on my bro's computer (definitely not fancy) the game ran ok, but if i put the graphic detail up the sound went to pot.
Any idea about the stats of your machine? How much ram do you have?
I had big problems with 500 megs, when i went to a gig it went fine.
I have about 500 megs of ram and it works fine, so I don't think its that.
As Karmoon said, DoW really rapes processor power but i'd expect it to lock up rather than garble the sound.
I don't think it's processor speed or RAM - I have a 2.4 GHz Pentium 4 with 1 GB RAM. Every other aspect of the game runs fine - it's just the sound.
Has anyone else encountered the Gamer's Choice Edition of DoW? It was super cheap - $20 NZD ($13 USD), do you think that is something to be suspicious about?
IIRC that edition of DoW is the same as the normal except for a few more (very good IMO) maps and DoW and WA can both be bought for peanuts these days.
agreed.. i was using the same version of the game on my PC and my bro's. Sounded perfect on one and blotchy on the other.
Hmmm, ok, I think I've pinned down the sound problems to the voices. when a unit is talking or there is a voiceover I think that triggers the sound to go crazy for a while.
I guess I'll have to try it out on another computer and see if the same problem happens. :hmm:
