Default Pc crashes

Ok so here my perplexing problem, my pc crashes in norml mode but not in safe mode.

I'm running windows xp, and have noticed this right after a clean install. I have automatically ruled out my ethernet card because I run safe mode with networking, but I don't know what is disabled while in safemode?

Does anyone know a general list of what is disabled? or better yet has encountered this problem and knows what's wrong?(I could only hope)

If it's after a clean install it could be because a driver for a peice of hardware isn't there or isn't working properly. I bought my new computer last September and had the same problem, when I first installed XP i found it kept crashing. In the end I downloaded a peice of software called 'Driver Detective' which highlights any software and drivers that aren't up to date and installs them for you, and since then I have had no problems what so ever *touch wood*.

It might be worth trying to see if you can update your hardware drivers and see if this helps at all...

Just to be sure you do know by clean install I meant after I wiped the drives and reformated.

Also I have all the drivers for my pc with the exception of a few which are only USB ports, which confuse me because I thought they were were plug and pray?

And if it's any help at all I'm running a raid array of two two hundred GB harddrives and my pc is not overclocked.

I realised what you meant by clean install. When I bought my computer it came with no operating system so I had to install XP from scratch. I had the drivers on CD that came with the computer, however these were not up to date, and having downloaded the latest drivers from the internet it seemed to solve the problem.

That would be my first port of call, try and find if there are more up to date drivers available for mainly your graphics card and your mother board...

Ok, I'll try anything at this point. I mean honostly what's the worse that could happen, it crashes and I fix it. I've done it so many times at this point I could do it in my sleep.

Ok I tried to install it and it wouldn't, I guess I'm going to have to reformat my pc and try to install it again.
