Edit. Slight update. The rules for Liberated Cannon have been updated.
Right, I'm going to a small-ish 350pts tournament in the beginning of February and I'm pondering on the lists I'm going to bring.
The tournament rules are "Liberated Cannon" - you can check them out here: http://battlegroup.dk/LiberatedCannon2008.pdf
The scenarios that will be played from Liberated Cannon are:
- Divide & Conquer
- Guard the treassure
- Five-point domination
Also, regular Assassination/Caster kill will also be 1 scenario.
I think I got one list nailed down pretty well. Generally I'm looking for staying power along with good damage-dealing since that will be the key in the majority of the scenarios that will be played. In Guard the Treassure it would be nice with 2 'jacks, but it will be very hard to make a balanced 350pts list for Khador at that level. Alos, it limits that list to that single scenario.
To see what I have avaible miniature-wise, check my blog (link in signature).
This is my first list that I like a lot. It relies on hitting the enemy early and taking out key elements. The damage-dealing potential of the 'Hunter combined with the anti infantry-power of the 'Makers gives me a good chance on taking out a key unit, solo or even light 'jacks early in the game.
The Juggernaut becomes very deadly with Superiority on it and Iron Fleshed AssKomms Shield Walling is a pretty tough nut to crack. And with Battle Lust they make for some dangerous warriors on the charge. I have had very good experiences with them, especialy with Irusk and they are relativly cheap compared to IFPs with the UA.
Army Points: 345/350
Victory Points: 14
- Kommandant Irusk
Assault Kommandos (
I don't have a very good idea for the second list but I think something that can take damage and return it in full would be ideal I'm not sure about which 'caster I should take since I like all those that I own, although I think that I have the most experience with Irusk and Sorscha.
I think this list could be nice:
Army Points: 344/350
Victory Points: 14
- Kommander Sorscha Kratikoff
Iron Fang Pikemen (6)
- Iron Fang Officer and Standard Bearer
Reasonable ammount of troops (14 in this one, 15 in the other) and it is my experience that Sorscha + Destroyer and IFPs = love sweet love.
Although I would like your thoughts on what I should bring in the second list. I need something somewhat different from the first list. Perhaps something that relies more on later damage-dealing rather than early on? I'm not sure really!
Thanks for any help!
I'm new to this forum, but I didn't see anyone responding to your post, so I thought I'd chime in.
What you take really depends upon what you have to begin with.
I am a HUGE fan of vlad - S/p and BoK are awesome - especially with a good troop mix.
Even though this is called WarMACHINE - you don't necessarily have to field jacks. Here is an example of a jackless list:
Demo Corps x 4
IFP x 7 + UA
With a well placed S/P - you can catch your entire army. Demo Corps put out tons of damage as does a well deployed IFP using CMA. The widowmakers can take out incoming infantry leaders or even damage jacks/beasts. The manhunter is fast, has stealth and can work well with S/P - especially on a charge - he gets to roll 5d6 (dropping the lowest) at P/S 11!!! This can damage even another khador jack... I also love the mortar teams - just watch the deviation. If you didn't want to take the mortar team, you could either bolster the IFP or fill out the Demo Corps.
Just a thought. And if you don't have him - the Kodiak is a FANTASTIC jack...
Thanks for commenting and welcome to the forum!
But again, thanks for the comment.
How about this:
Demo Corps (5)
Drakhun (with dismount)
Comes to (if I'm not mistaken) 344 points.
Vald is a powerhouse, and he has a good, multi-purpose 'jack to run (and to use his feat on!). Demo Corps are wesome, and put S&P to good use. The Drakhun is an unbelievable powerhouse, and deserves to be in just about every Khador list ever.
Ah, no Vlad--that's a shame. The resculpt was a significant improvement on the original (ugly) model. You should really work on getting one. He's pretty much the best Khador caster out there.
Once again, the conservative, sandwich-heavy portfolio pays off for the hungry investor!
Yeah I really like his rules. Would love to own him id I could get myself the resculpt.
Oh and the Drakhun would be lovely as well. Bloody expensive model though.
DMC, why don't you give people an idea of the models you have and the tactics you like to use/etc.? That way, instead of designing 'optimal' lists for you, they can help you form lists around that. Afraid I can't really help as I've barely started the game, myself. Good luck at the tourney though.
