I'm glad we are finally getting Epic casters, while most people tend to agree that most of the sculpts aren't Epic enough, they still provide us with a fresh way to play our favorite casters. I have recently grown to love Madrak more from a fluff and play perspective, where before I wasn't really liking him. I'm curious how Doomshaper is going to be changed up, he really needs a buff and seems like our heavy beast caster, so I hope he fills that roll this time around much easier.
Out of all the Epic's who would have thought that Legion got the best damn sculpt?! Sarcasm aside Thagrosh is a beautiful and stunning model, I envy you Dragon slaves.
I'm really liking the Synergy that Meta is bringing so far, Pretty much all of the solo's buff an existing unit, and some with much needed buffs (Tharn Ravagers). One solo in particular I like is the Circle Oboros War Wolf, because out of all the solo's we've seen it seems the less situational and the more synergetic, yes I made a word up for it. I thought it would be cool for a Circle player to take E. Kaya, max War Wolves, and large units of the Reeves to form a highly mobile and shooty force to break down the enemy.
I'm so excited to see what the new Troll solo is I can't stand it, all the rumors flying around that he's a Dragoon and buffs an already downright nasty unit (The Champions baby) really doesn't help matters.
Onto what I want for Meta:
New Caster!- I think this is a given, and will most likely happen due to rumors. Never has a book released really without a new P.Caster, and I'm anxious to see what my own faction will be getting. TB's don't really have much in Assassin run characters, that would be an interesting choice to use definitely.
Character Beasts- Out of all the things I want is Character Beasts. With the recent introduction of Character Warjacks in Legends I think it's a given to "Keep up" with it's big brother system.
For Trolls this could be simple: The Axer Bron with Synergy for Madrak, and a giant Dire Troll for Doomshaper. With new E's in this book they could be a great introduction for it.
More Units- I'm a stickler for units and Infantry dominanted forces, I just think it looks rather impressive and the beasts work better with ample support. I expect a new Trollkin unit and Pyg unit at least, Honestly I have no idea what they could do, but someone on the PP Forums posted rules for Champions wielding Great Weapons which sounded neat, though I'd rather it be basic Kriels.
New UA's- Only one we haven't seen yet is Skorne, though I bet it'll be a UA for Venators or Cataphracts. I'm not holding out for Scattergunners to get one, but it would be a nice addition if they did.
So what do you people think so far of Meta? I find it to be our best expansion yet, and anything new to diversify and give Horde players more options (Especially in games against WM) is always welcome.
Have any of you used the new units out yet? I know we can get some good Circle and Legion feedback, but I would really like to see what a Troll and Skorne player think of the new units they have.
To end a long post, I will refrain from gushing more until someone else posts.
Check the wording, I didn't make it concrete. I knew one did, I thought it was the one with Menoth on the front though.
I am chuffed.
While I haven't picked up my Epic (well Kaya) yet, I probably will be soon (yay, moneys), and she does look absolutely awesome, fun wise.
Model is a bit meh (ditto Krueger, though I quite like him), but Laris is kinda kewl.
My solos are awesome.
The war wolf is so damn fast, I just wish I liked the Reeves or Wolves enough to drop the cash for one of the units he makes sick.
The White Mane has been fantastic in the games I've found room for him.
He is pricey (and makes the unit even more pricey, weighing in at around 130pts for 5 models... eek), but has such fantastic potential, especially if you can keep him alive enough to start getting and using heart tokens...
Also, Kromac makes him wrong.
I tried out Dhalia and Skarath today, and they were so much fun it's unbelievable.
Admittedly it was kinda their perfect hunting grounds (well, almost), being a 3-way game at 350pts (almost entirely beasts, we had 1 min sized unit of Legionnaires around), when they managed to:
Kill an Impaler (critically wounding it with attacks, then finishing it off with the Snake Strike animus when it missed me, good ol' destroyed mind);
Critically remove from play (swallow?) two Legionnaires, basically making the unit easy meat for Kromac; and
Miss killing a Carnivean by rolling a double 1... (The Carnivean was wounded by my warpwolf, charged Skarath, missing with all his attacks (some lousy rolling there, luckily I didn't have the Animus up)... Skarath then Leap'ed behind the Carnivean, bit it, leaving it Paralized (has to forfeit movement next round), and with one point of damage left, and made another attack, which hit, and rolled a double 1, equalling armour... Gah!)
I'm not convinved the 107pts is worth it at 500pts, but anything higher and I'm pretty much taking them. With Circle, especially with furry beasts or high def melee casters, they are amazing. The animus fits so nicely with everything else it makes me happy.
I also wish Dhalia was a Pathfinder. That would make me so happy.
The main drawback for me is price, the relatively tight leash you have to keep Skarath on (8" control range isn't so awesome), and the insane fragility of Dhalia (def 16 is sweet, but arm 11 isn't... I also found that she generally had no fury (for transferring) on her, but I was playing out-and-out insane in places...).
As far as things that aren't Circle (Dhalia and Skarath blatently are), I believe PP confirmed that each faction will be getting 2 epics and a regular 'lock, which should be fun.
If Legionnaires don't get a UA I will be shocked. They are crying out for a standard. Plus it'd look awesome.
I fear the thought of a Cetratii UA. That would make me sad.
Skorne seem to have got the most awesome stuff so far, and I don't like it. They're a huge pain in the ass for me anyway, though I haven't played against them in aaages.
I'm kinda half expecting everyone to get a character/unique beast, but I don't quite know how it'd work. Seems like Legion already got one (Thaggy), and I can't really see Skorne getting one, fluff-wise (their beasts seem too 'dispposable', like assets to be spent, rather than beings to be protected), so that might not work out.
I'm a huge beasts fan, so I'd ideally like to see more of them (2-3 lights and 1-2 heavys would be sweet), but so far all we can say for (fairly) certain is that everyone is probably getting at least a light.
I'm intrigued as to what a Woldshifter might be (it was mentioned in the Gavin Thingy file for Baldur), so that's got me hooked.
I'm also expecting a new heavy unit for everyone, as it's fairly certain that there will be a new kind of Blighted Ogrun for the Legion (mentioned on the Warmonger Battle-Chief's card, the War Spears...), and seeing that PP have started plastic-ifying themselves (see: Bastions of Menoth), I wouldn't be suprised to see a funky new unit for everyone in plastic...
Not sure what they will be, though.
The story is what I'm looking forward to most.
It should be awesome. Especially with that Thagrosh model about...

Great reply and exactly what I was looking for -T. I forgot to add I would love to see Faction Decks come out with Meta's release, since I lost some cards and getting them back is pretty much non-existent at the moment.
Yeah the Character beasts seems only limiting on the Skorne end though, and it shouldn't be that hard to have a large Bronzeback who's lived for ages and is filled with all kinds of rage and hate or a particularly knowledgeable Cyclops who can predict movements far better than his comrades. Skorne don't have to like something for it to stick around, lol.
It seems everyone is getting two Solo's as well, which got me thinking what the second Solo will be for Trolls even when we don't know the first. A Pygmy solo would be interesting, or maybe a range supporty Trollkin with a sniper rifle or Gatling gun.
I would like a new Dire Troll heavy to pimp out, especially if Doomshaper keeps his affinity with Dire Trolls. Just don't know what kind of variation they could do at this point, maybe an elemental Dire troll, like Water or something. Maybe a more defensive Dire with armour plates all over it, or one with a large weapon like a tree or something.
So far Meta is treating Horde players very nicely, and I look forward to the rumors more than anything.
If you don't mind me asking, where did they confirm the new casters would be in this book?
I know on a fellcalls podcast Matt himself said they didn't want a repeat of apotheosis where it was 2 epics and one new. If it is happening I guess they changed their minds. Won't complain love more new stuff.
40k: Witch Hunters, starting Dark Eldar
Warmahordes: Cryx; Circle
I'm very happy with the stuff that I've seen so far for Metamorphosis. Judging from the previews, it seems that this will be a standard Privateer job of boosting units that people don't normally use and quite frankly, that's fine by me.
Warmongers got the Warchief, which means that they won't kill themselves. That doesn't mean you don't have to be careful with them anymore; they'll still kill other units that get too close but even so, the bonus is welcome, as is the +2 MAT and RAT. I just need to see what Warspears do, probably will be short range but damaging shooting for cracking open heavy infantry, which is just what the doctor ordered as far as I'm concerned.
Striders got loads of love with the new releases too, which I'm happy with. Striders are one of my favorite units fluffwise, and I would love to see them getting boosts thanks to the Deathstalker and the UA. Again, I've got to see more before I decide just how happy I am.
As for the models, I can't say that we've exactly been hard done by. I'll try hard not to dance on top of all of your graves with my lovely models but I don't think there's anything that needs to be said. The Warmonger War Chief has been an absolute joy to paint, though I have yet to use him. I'd like to get a unit of Warmongers first to try him out with them, to be honest.
I will also have to try out eLylyth because I haven't yet but she does basically everything that Lylyth should have done in the first place. pLylyth was nothing but a super solo who wasn't even that super (I feel the homicidal rage towards Khador players rising to the surface...excuse me for a moment). eLylyth is a flexible and very useful Warlock who is able to bring the rain down on her enemies and I am very happy with everything about her. Her Arcane Archer rule, her spell list, her feat, everything. Elite Cadre striders is really just icing on the cake, they're being buffed extensively as it is.
Looking from the sidelines I was quite impressed with how Hallyr and Skarath performed on their own, without any support. They really gave off the "Minion Warlock" feel, a duo who have learned to survive by their wits and their bond. Now I say looking from the sidelines because that's how games against -t feel, you basically move your models around and watch as he runs roughshod over your entire army :p I had to endure the indignity of having my Legionnaires eaten by Skarath but personally I don't think it was such a big deal. I'd say Critical Consume is most dangerous to small-base solos and Skarath himself is probably going to excel at harrying the enemy flanks, hunting down beasts that have wandered too far out or are trying to outflank your army. My Shredders are a little worried about it though, being small-based models.
I'm still hoping for other stuff in terms of content, though I'm glad with what we got. As the t-man mentioned, a UA for Blighted Legionnaires would be nice as would more heavies and Warlocks. I'm really interested to see what else we get. Of course I'd love to see what Warspears do as well. Considering that I now play Thagrosh, I think they could potentially find a way into my list.
The 1/2 new regulars or 1 new/1 epic-concept is probably my favourite so far. Gives a decent amount of new 'caster-based goodies without overwhelming us.
Good additions Nite, great to see a Legion players perspective on it, though I wasn't surprised by your answer of "We got good models" in the least lol.
I've heard good things about the Warchief, and apparently he runs just as well by himself as he does with a unit of Warmongers. Try to fit him in a game you got coming up and see how well he does on his own, shouldn't be that hard.
Any speculation on what your own new 'Caster will be? If I was to have a dream 'Caster (Other than my wrestler concept) I would go with a Dragoon that supports elite infantry units and heavies.
