So I'm looking to get into Warmachine here and after reading the MK II rulebook, the cards and reading extensively on battlecollege I settled on either Khador or Cygnar.
In the end I just loved the Khador models and characters better so I decided to go with them and ordered the battlebox to start.
Now what I want to talk about here, is the Khador warcasters.
In the smaller games you only have one of them and honestly they all seem so cool. I'm particularly fond of Vlad, eVlad and the Old Witch. Sorscha also looks to be really cool. In all honesty though I think I could have a lot of fun with pretty much any of their warcasters.
So for those that play Khador, which is your favorite and why?
Tomb Scorpion Kill Counter: Gotrek Gurnisson, Empire Cannon Crew=3, Blood Knights=2, Saurus Cavalry=5, Saurus Warriors=3, Razordons=3, Skink warriors=7, Jezzails=8, Poison Wind Globadiers=10, Warp Lightning Cannon=1
First of all define favorite. I mean i only play with 1 caster, and that is Irusk and eIrusk, because he reminds me of stalin a lot, and he is a pretty bomb ass character, cause i play a lot of infantry, and he makes infantry soo good. watch me as they are all tough in his command radius
Fav caster depending on army style depends a lot as well
Scorcha is great all around, she can lead a jack heavy army or infantry heavy. Her feat is pretty much god like against jack armies.
Vlad is a pretty OP character, cause most of the time people will use blood of kings to make him a monster at all times, and use signs and portents on mortars and lay waste, and then Vlad comes in for the kill at the end. EVlad is even worse at that.
Karchev is only good if your playing a only jack army and your opponent isnt running eyris or another disruption character that just shuts you down.
the Old Witch is pretty boss, but she is more of an advanced character, so unless you know what your doing, i wouldnt use her that much
Thus far I've only played pSorscha but I like her style a lot. I've found her to be more of a support 'caster than a frontline hitter like some of our other 'casters. Her ability to protect the army from shooting early on, pick off stray models with Razor Wind, and knock stuff down makes it a lot easier for the army to do what it needs to do. Wind Rush just makes her more able to do all of these things while keeping her safe.
For my next 'caster I've been thinking about the Butcher or Zerkova. The Butcher has good direct army support, especially for 'jacks with Full Throttle, and is a monster in combat. Zerkova looks to be similar to Sorscha in that her spell list helps the army through disruption. Zerkova's spells are more powerful though, and she's quite a bit squishier.
My favorite caster is Zerkova. Merely because she is something different from all of Khador (OW not withstanding... and she's an enigma in herself). Her spells are not that great, but she is relatively defensive with an amazing denial feat to set up a massed Khador charge. I'm hoping her tier list allows her to field multiple Koldun Lords (or get one for free Pts and FA wise).
Second favorite is pButcher and eButcher equally. They embody what I think of Khador (Karchev does as well, but I'm still warming up to the big guy since his Mk II improvement). Both incarnations of the Butcher are insanely hard to bring down as well as being excessively offensive themselves. Couple their threat with arm 20 'jacks and powerful infantry and you've got a recepet for a ravening melee horde.
Third favorite is pSorscha. She was my first 'caster (battle box) and I still love playing with her. She is the lynch pin for my 'blitz' Khador army of IFP, Beast-09, 2 Mortars and as many weapon masters as I can fit.
The best lower point 'casters for Khador would be the pButcher, pSorscha and the Vlads. All are difficult to assassinate, and all can lay a smacking down on their own. pSorschas feat at lower point values is particularly devastating but you have to remember to watch out for the shake effect now.
