Well, I've heard of Warmachine, but without a dealer round my parts I was like 'eh'.
But recently my Local Rogue Trader started selling them, and I'm intersted.
But, like always money is an issue, so what would be the basic start up costs? (For rules and the most basic form of an army)
BTW, I'm in Canada.
well where i am it would cost around 56-79 dollars but it might cost a bit more for you so yeahOriginally Posted by MiketehFox
My Warmachine army cost me around 90 dollars total. It is probably the cheapest, popular wargame that you could possibly play. In fact, this game just goes to show that GW is really ripping us all off when they tell us that they couldn't sell their models for any less, because this company is makng money hand over fist and they sell their models for about 1/10th the price.
I would definately recommend getting the PRIME rulebook (about $18) and reading over it before you choose a faction to start playing.
Once you decide on what army you think you will have the most fun with, I highly recommend the starter boxes. They cost around $35 - $40 and come with enough models to make about a 300 point army list.
So for about $60 (US) you can get yourself (and usually some friends) into it. You really only need one rule book, so the more people you get to play together, the more you can split costs I suppose, especially when it comes to paint and modelling tools.
Here is the cheapest website I have seen for Warmachine models and books http://www.artsbargains.com/storefro...=15336&c=30321
This website is cheaper than most games stores, and just a hair more than the other site I linked to. However, they have cheap shipping and their site has full color pictures of what the models will look like when assembled and painted (very handy)
I am the Aquila-Guerilla!
And here I tough it would take days to get a responce!
So about 100$-120$ Canadain for start up?
I Think I'll look inot it, but not now, maybe after X-mes (at which point I usually get about 200-300$ , plus what ever I had before, Good 'ole Relatives!)
Thought I may buy the rulebook before hand, to learn teh rules and stuff.
If you want to play Khador, then I've got an army you might be interested in.
Yeah, it's a fairly cheeep game. The problem is finding people who play it. I used to live in an area where damn near everyone had a warmachine army, but now I live in an area where people are like: "those are cool, but I already spend too much on Warhammer...".
Those cheapass jerks...
Yeah, I'm kinda worried about that too, as its so new over here, but you know how sometimes you can't bear to paint anougher Space Marine but you want to paint? This could be my escape! which would actually be better than having 4 WH 40K armies going at once, you never seem to have enough for a good game!
I'll echo GuardianGnome: I bought the Prime book and read it over, then thought about it for a couple weeks, and then settled on Cygnar.
I really thought about the Protectorate, but I already play an army of religios maniacs (Sisters) so I wanted to do something different.

you should get the Crnygar First box set trust me it's good (hope that was realated to your question)
