I know I'm supposed to play Menoth. I guess that makes me a traitor then... Truth be told, I've always wanted to play Cryx and after I got Apotheosis I decided that the opportunity to field Lich Lord Terminus and the alternate Pistol Wraiths was just too good an opportunity to pass up. Once I get better at the game, I'll probably start running Terminus in earnest.
Lich Lord Terminus
Bane Lord Tartarus
Bane Knights (9)
- Brute Thrall
Total: 492 points
I would've preferred to field a unit of Zombie Pirates along with Captain Rengrave as it goes better with the Terminus theme but they're quite expensive and considering that my regular opponents field pretty punishing lists, I felt that a unit of Bane Knights would serve me better while the Mechanithralls provide the bullet shield. Plus I like the Brute Thrall model. Then there's all the combos with Terminus, a Skarlock, and Bane Knights. You get the idea.
On the other hand, I do have a choice here. I could drop the Brute Thrall (since the McThrall unit is Terminus' bullet shield anyway) and get another Bane Knight for a full unit and have a few points left over for stuff or drop Tartarus and the Brute Thrall for another unit of Bane Knights (for 2 units of 7). The last option obviously opens the dark path to Bane Spam and I'm not sure I want to go down that road. I have a moral dilemma here...help me, people of LO!
Gotta say, my suggestions ain't really worth bothering with since I don't know enough about cyx yet to get a synergy with unit combos.
Yes, BK's are mean if you are playing against standard units, but once you get AOEs involved, they die by the handful, and can't really SS much to make up for it.
16,000+ of Eldar (only need flyers)
7,000+ of Nids (want heirophant)
6,000+ of Space Marines (need rever titan)
4,400+ of Cygnar (all models for the faction)
1,500+ of Legion (just started)
Terminus is good with the Revanant Crew. You put the revanants in his front ark and keep the quartermaster behind Terminus. Whenever someone tries to harm Terminus with a ranged attack you just use sacrificial pawn on a revanant and if the quartermaster is still alive then the revanant just comes back next turn.
I've tried this a few times and it works but it makes Terminus a big target and is quite expensive points wise.
I had a fun instance against cygnar long-gunners using pirates + terminus; I had two revanants left, squad of ten long-gunners allocates 4 men to shoot the two revanants after Haley has used her feat (they all get 2 shots) and the rest of the squad (6 of them) use a combined shot twice against Terminus. All 4 of the gunners shooting at the revanants missed due to catastrophic dice rolling, then the combined shots hit Terminus and should have done a ton of damage to him but I just allocated it to the revanants much to the frustration of my apponent.

Yeah I definitely considered using the Revenant Crew but I couldn't really squeeze in the points without dropping something from this list and it was either the Bane Knights and BLT, the McThralls, or the Death Chickens. I decided to just scrap this list and go for a completely different one in the end, one that looks a bit like....this:
Lich Lord Terminus
Captain Rengrave of the Atramentous
Revenant Crew of the Atramentous (10)
Bile Thralls (
Total: 496 points
Something like that. I never really considered Bile Thralls before because I don't really like the models and I find them to be a bit too...disgusting...for my tastes. Nevertheless they do have their uses and I'm willing to stomach them down for the greater good. Besides, they're hilariously destructive. Was also considering a pair of Bloat Thralls but these guys just generally do better. I can SacPawn Rengrave and use the Revenant Crew to resurrect him and vice versa, plus a little extra command for my units and extra quartermasters as an insurance policy. Rengrave just makes things better.
I wanted to have at least one Slayer because they're awesome. Terminus won't have to invest much in it beyond a little focus and a slaved Ravager from the Skarlock. If the 'jack is out of spell range for whatever reason, I can have it slave Demoniac or Malediction. I love Skarlocks. For the record, I don't really like the Seether and it's too small a game to be using the DJ.
Up next, the Witch Coven...
